It's worth mentioning again: This Game Is Our Season

While much of CP has checked out on 2014, it's important to remember that the Chiefs ultimately rely on no one but themselves to get into the playoffs. If they lose one game over the next two weeks, they're out. But if they win, they not only will be in, they will have beaten all their competitors to get there (Bills, Dolphins, Steelers, Chargers 2 x's) -- that would be utterly astounding. Not only did most of us project a sub-.500 season (I projected 7-9), this hypothetically 10-win team could very easily have been 12-wins if not for slamming its own dick in the two drawers of Oakland and Nashville.

That being said, the following things absolutely must happen for the Chiefs to win -- and I should know, because I post here instead of working on Reid's coaching staff:

1. Start Vance Walker as the top DE over Allen Bailey. Walker is tons better against the run than Bailey is, who is just getting erased in the run game this year. You also don't lose a ton of passrushing either, as Walker is plenty talented in that department.

2. Play Fleming over Owens as the #3 CB. Owens has given us everything he's got, but Fleming is looking like another bargain bin finding by Dorsey at the CB position. His ability to track receivers and change directions fluidly is going to be sorely needed against Marcus Wheaton and Antonio Brown.

3. Play Avant as the #2 WR, and Wilson as your #3. You can't trust Avant to make plays for us for a whole year, but we can sure expect him to make plays for a couple weeks. Avant is perfect for this offense and can threaten deep. Wilson has performed extremely well, especially considering the Cardinals' secondary is one of the league's best. He's giving us 3-4 receptions a week.

4. Bring back the three TE set. The entire offense went off track when Harris went down and we abandoned the three TE sets, which Smith clearly loves. Anthony Sherman can play as the third TE, or even better, get Gordon involved -- he clearly outplayed Harris in the preseason.

5. Start Linkenbach. For the love of all that is holy. Friends don't let friends play McGlynn.

6. Play Hammond over Thomas at punt returner. Frankie Hammond has been an excellent returner when Thomas has either been injured or benched, and doesn't make Thomas' weekly bone-headed decisions with the ball. The Chiefs aren't going to win by striking out hoping to hit a home run -- which has been Thomas' MO this year. They're going to win by hitting singles and doubles, which Hammond can do.

**** Pittsburgh and their ****ing fans that don't even know how to find the city on a map. KC is going to kick ass and I'm gonna take a shit on the first Steelers fan I see in the aftermath of glorious Americana victory over the bandwagon mother****ers that have a Steelers hat, Yankees jersey and Miami heat panties.

Hi Direckshun,

I'm posting in here to express my concern for our friendship. Yes bud - it's unstable and I'm starting to think we need to go talk with someone.

You destabilized my friendship with you as you belittled the 'ask Simply Red a football question' thread. That hurt, I've thought about it all day. And If I said something to offend so you felt the need to belittle, than I apologize. But in my eyes I've always been very sweet to you and most all others on here.

Unsure of where we are regarding E friends.

It's upsetting.

Have a nice weekend and a better holiday.

Just saying something like the bolded is shamefully out of what character I thought you had, sir... and I think you and I both know you are better than that.

.. and if my statements could push you in any direction as you allude to.. then what does that really say?

Self-inspection is not a bad thing.. tread best we can.. but never stray from what is right. Be yourself. Don't get caught up in the silly and capricious fail from others.

I believe you can take my words and fix this... but do.. think.. as you must.

Just a thought since we don't have three legit tight ends, but we do have two big possession recievers, why don't we put avant or bowe in the three tight end set? They should be more effective than Sherman while not being real reciever fast so smith can hit them just behind their stride as they run still.

I am not sure we can stop the Steelers running game-and Alex has shown he chokes in Every meaningful game he plays.

35- 10

Chiefs lose out the rest of the year and save the fans another Playoff choke job.

Is there a Chiefs football version of this:

I think we may all need to meet somewhere like P&L and sing a Chief song and perhaps our WRs and team can then fly, just like Santa's sleigh did in the clip...
