So tired of seeing Brees4MVP

Yes, another MVP thread. I am selfish and wanted to have my own. It's starting to get a bit annoying with idiot Saints fans and idiot media personalities thinking that Drew Brees deserves the MVP. I did a little break down of the two from this year and it made it even more clear that Mahomes is light years ahead of Drew.

Anyone that thinks Brees is even in the conversation for MVP is a complete idiot. 4 straight games of 203 or less yards, 4 straight games with an interception, 3 straight games with 1 or less passing tds. Alex Smith puts up better numbers than that and he isn't even close to an MVP. Brees has the number 7 scoring defense. A defense that has held their opponent to 20 or less points a game in 10 out of 14 games, so lets not act like Brees is the reason that team is winning.

Patrick Mahomes on the other hand is on pace to have the 2nd best season by a quarterback in history. More than likely he is going to pass for 50 td passes, something only Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have done. It took Brady 7 years to do it and Manning 16 seasons to do it. Mahomes is probably going to do it in just his first starting season. Hes also on pace for around 5200 yards, so in his first season as a starter he will have a better season than Drew Brees and Tom Brady have ever had, both have been starting for 17 years. So Brees has the number 7 defense to help him out, but Mahomes isn't that fortunate. He has the number 28 scoring defense. So lets quit acting like Brees has to do everything to help that team win. Any mediocre QB could be on that team and they would win. You want to say that Alex did very well with this team last year. Alex is a decent qb, but take a look at his numbers when a the opponent scores 24+ points (9-42-1). The reason that matters is because the Chiefs Defense has allowed 24 or more points in 8 out of 14 games this year. Thankfully the Chiefs have a stud at qb and is 5-3 in those games.

So the case some people are arguing for Drew Brees. Oh he has a 74.9 completion percent!!1!!! The list of highest single season completion percentages isn't filled with many great QBs, the top 20 list has only has 5 HoF qbs on it and is littered with mediocre QBs, like Sam Bradford, Ken Anderson, Kirk Cousins, Tony Romo, Brian Grese. Only 2 QBs that have won MVP had the highest completion percentage that year, Young and Montana, but Young was also first in TDs and 4th in YDs and Montana was 4th in TDs, 8th in YDs, and was 11-2 as a starter. Some really mediocre qbs have had pretty high completion percentage, so I wouldn't try to back an argument with that stat. Well what about the number of Ints? Well that isn't a MVP worthy stat either. The list of guys who have the least amount of Ints in a season is littered with guys that didn't amount to anything. Hell Steve Deberg has the 2nd lowest ints in a season and Alex Smith had 5 in a season with the 49ers.

Now the case for Patrick Mahomes. He is 1st in TD passes (11 more than 2nd place) and only 5 TDs away from being only the 3rd QB to get to 50. In the top 6 most passing TDs 5 of the players won the MVP that year. The lone exception is in 2011 Drew Brees had 46 passing TDs (good for the 5th most ever) and lost the MVP to Aaron Rodgers who just happened to have 45 TD passes (tied for 6th most ever with Patrick Mahomes). He is also 1st in passing yards and is 88 yards ahead of 2nd place. You would think that having the most yards and touchdowns would mean he would have the most passing attempts, well you would be wrong. He is currently 6th in passing attempts, 64 attempts from Big Ben who has thrown the most passes so far. He also has the 12th best completion percentage at 67.1, which is pretty damn good.

Both players lead the top team in their division. The Saints only have 1 more win than the Chiefs, the Saints have played the 15th hardest schedule and the Chiefs have played the 8th hardest schedule. The Saints' defense is ranked 7th in ppg and the Chiefs is ranked 28th in ppg. So it really just blows my mind how anyone can look at the stats and say that Drew Brees deserves the MVP over Patrick Mahomes.

I think mahomes is for some incredible reason the underdog.
Media's job is to build hype, interest and uncertainty so that interested parties will keep tuning in to their analysis. If every week they wrote, "No one is catching Mahomes", people would stop paying attention. "The race" builds spin off stories as well.

Does that mean some of the voters don't want to make their own stories about how their football acumen is more refined in why they don't think it is Mahomes? Of course not, some of them have huge egos that will need to be satisfied.

I look at it this way: The NFL MVP shouldn't just be a player that makes their particular team win at a high rate. The NFL MVP should be the player fans of other teams tune in to see because of their high level of play. If you were the fan of a team other than the Saints or Chiefs and those two teams were playing at the same time and were the only two options on the board, which one would you rather watch perform? Its Mahomes by a mile. Now, if the Chiefs had a mediocre record or Mahomes wasn't a leader in many major statistical categories, that could take him out of the running. But that's not the case. I don't have the numbers, but I think the Chiefs have been part of more Top 10 rated games this season than any other and that's quite an accomplishment for a small market team.

Quote:
Marquee Matchups: The NFL has been able to put some of their best matchups in prime time in front of the largest audience possible. In a recent Monday Night Football game on ESPN between the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs, the Rams’ 54 to 51 victory marked the first time in NFL history that both teams scored over 50 points in the same game. The match-up featured two of brightest young quarterbacks in the league, Jared Goff of the Rams and Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs. The game averaged 16.7 million viewers, the most watched NFL game on ESPN in nearly two years. ESPN’s Monday Night Football viewing is up by 9% from last year.

Miami, San Diego, Chicago, New York, Philly, Boston...ok. Those are big, easily walked, lots to do in small areas.

Towns I listed above suck to visit imo. Short of being uber rich and having a personal driver the entire trip (and time to get places) they are not fun to visit.

Houston may be the worst town on Earth.
You really think there’s more to do in KC than Seattle, San Fran and Dallas?

That’s absurd lol

People want to go just because of that badass stadium. I’ve been there and it is pretty spectacular.

Also, the Dealy Plaza is a HUGE part of why people would go to Dallas. KC doesn’t have much man.

Dallas is a shitbox. Terrible city.

San Francisco is terrible and impossible to get around.

Seattle isn't bad, but tough to get around and not a ton to do.

San Fran and Seattle are both hilly as shit, which makes walking a bitch. Makes KC look flat.

I can guarantee you all 3 cities attract more tourists than Kansas City and that’s what they want. People don’t want to spend a ton of money to fly to city that only offers great barbecue. You guys have Worlds of Fun and The Negro League Museum. Like I said I’ve been to KC, Dallas and San Fran. I’d rather go to those places before KC. Don’t take it the wrong way, but there’s not much to do there.

I admit it's subjective. I like KC. Fun town.

I've been to Dallas (a lot, used to live in East Texas), SF, and Seattle. I'll take KC.

I wonder how much is just capacity? Dallas can definitely host a LOT more people than KC.

What all of those cities have in common that KC does not: a legitimate non third-world airport. Hell, all of those cities have MULTIPLE non-shitty airports (including HTX). KCI (MCI for non-locals who have to fly in) is ****awful. People underestimate transportation in these conversations. Getting a direct flight to KCI is not possible in many regions, and it is always expensive....way more than DFW, or HOU, or ORD, or LGA, or JFK, or OAK, or SFO, or SJC, or...

I think you're right though, it's infrastructure.

Yeah, DFW is a goddamn nightmare. I fly out of DAL (Love Field) and it is great! It really sucks when I have to fly somewhere without a Southwest direct route. That typically means having to go to DFW and figure out which of the FIVE MASSIVE terminals to park at; you will often fly out of one then return to a different one. Sometimes you can take the train between terminals, sometimes bus. ALWAYS a PITA because that airport is the size of ****ing London.

The SB is an event. An overpriced event that attracts $
That clientele needs to be able to get in/out easily w/ little hassle. MCI SUCKS for that. I was happy to see that KC is finally working on a new airport (terminal) to correct that shitty little airport. Hell, if they can make LGA look amazing, if you haven't flown into LGA lately you will NOT recognize it, then same can be done for MCI. Then I think KC could have a legitimate argument.

In the interim, I sure wish Clark would spend as much energy on winning a SB as he has on trying to get events hosted at Arrowhead. ****ing pencil-necked trust-fund twerpy bitch.

Why do you say that. Because it's a child weather stadium? Again see new York.

KC is not New York City. Can’t say that strongly enough

If it was all about city and not weather, Chicago would have a Superbowl over Indianapolis, and Philly over Detroit

NYC is the only cold weather venue that can receive a Superbowl bid. Like I said, they ain’t going to Chicago, because NYC>CHI

I'm thinking the murder/death factor plays into this when considering Chicago.

Lot of people in the league think Brees is going to win.

What a bunch of morons. If we get the 1 seed it should easily be Mahomes.
