How healthy do you eat?

When it comes to food, how much emphasis do you place on health and nutrition?

Poll coming as soon as I mix it with a nice quinoa.

The only coke that isn't downright terrible for you would be something like Merck pharmaceutical coke. The shit Jerry Garcia and Keith Richards would mix with their smack.

Garcia died, but that had as much to do with smoking and diet/weight as it did hard drug use.. .

So get some Merck and you'll be fine on salads. Won't ever be constipated, that's for sure...

I'm not much of a healthy eater. I try to eat less as much as possible. I hate most veggies but to eat some, I'll include it with a bite of whatever else I'm eating to mask the flavor. That's usually with carrots.

I drink a lot of water. For the most part I avoid candy, ice cream, sugary stuff. I have one soda a week with my mixed drinks. I take a vitamin almost daily.

I thought pork was the 'other white meat' and wasn't bad.

If I had to rank meats/proteins in terms of healthiness, I would probably offer something like this, but I have no idea how accurate it is. Anyone want to weigh in who knows more than me?

1. Salmon. I always hear that it's magical.
2. Most other fish, particularly lighter colored fish.
3. Darker fishes like mahi mahi and stuff.
4. Shellfish-like things like shrimp, lobster, crab, oysters, etc.
5. Chicken
6. Duck and goose and other birds
7. Pork
8. Steaks
9. Hamburger
10. Bacon and sausage.
11. Other processed meats like salami and pastrami and stuff.

What do others think?

From my understanding, only the Wild salmon, not the Farmed salmon because there is a high level of PCB's in farmed.

Personally, I prefer cod or mahi. One 5 ounce serving of cod has like 30 grams of protein, plus, I like a milder fish.

I disagree. I think it depends on one's metabolic type. The paleo diet has handled health problems for those it is suited for. I've been tested for my metabolic type and what kind of foods create inflammation for me.

I typically get B12 anemia when I've cut out red meat too low. Again, the quality of the meat matters. I eat lamb and bison, it is less bad than commercial beef. I should eat grass fed but I just can't stomach the taste.

If anything too much grain product is worse for you than meat. Starches turn to sugar and there's way too much in our diet and causes inflammation— a factor in degenerative diseases.

Another myth. I would avoid most dicates from govt or govt inspired sources. Their food pyramid is a disaster for health.

1. Salmon. I always hear that it's magical.

If it's wild salmon. It makes me feel alert with clear focus and good energy. It's called a brain food for good reason.
Well even the farmed as that effect on me, but it's really not as healthy to eat.

Best to eat wild over farmed.

Even some of that is fine. Iirc correctly there's been a new study on bacon actually having some good health properties.

I just told you here.

I just think each body deals with certain foods differently due to metabolism.
So I try to avoid over generalizations about certain foods.

Well, I'm on the ocean—a southern one though. It's mostly all farmed here at every supermarket. I had to find a little market that gets a lot of north Atlantic fish shipped. It's pricey though. They carry the most wild fish—cod, flounder, halibut swordfish and Scottish salmon ( which is milder and I prefer) etc. Tilipia is pretty much only in the farmed version I can find.

I love when I visit my brother in Maine because any fish is so fresh it's like I can taste the ocean still when eating a lobster or steamed clams/mussels.

I now avoid all Pacific fish because of the nuclear waste that's been, and still is being dumped into the Pacific from that nuclear accident they had years ago. It's still not under control. I read seals and starfish have washed up on our west coast with tumors or are sick. I won't even eat it if it's from Chile. I picked up some awesome looking Chilean langostinos and got sick from it.

Stay in the Atlantic if you get any fish.

For a low low price of $499 a month payable to me, you will be allowed to take a life insurance policy out on me. Deal?
