You forgot the tactic they learned from SKC, play it back to your keeper no matter what, just to make sure you're killing your legs...

There are so many issues with US soccer you could probably write a book on it. Development is a serious problem as you can see and the fact that the people who run it can't handle any young players being told they should go play in better leagues than the MLS.

That one is largely implied by the repeated long balls.

Keeper gets ball, passes it to center back,center back passes it to Michael Bradley, Bradley back passes to keeper and BOOM - long ball over the top for Jozy to try and run down.

Bradley rarely makes any positive moves these days and he doesn't have the defensive workrate he used to. It's time to move him out.

Yup. I mentioned it in another thread. They need to break up SUM and MLS. Sadly, it'll take another usmnt failure to do so. The one plus side is that the MLS is making more money that can go into development. But the disadvantages WAY outweigh the benefit.

How come the men can't ever be as good as the women? It's downright embarrassing sometimes.
Or better question: Why/how is the women's team such a juggernaut?

Because, as much as they bitch about everything, women in this country have it really well off. Our program is miles ahead because our treatment of women is miles ahead. The athleticism and fitness of our women was on full display during the second half of yesterday's game. That fitness is something that can be coached, trained, and developed. As other nations move their women into more prominence, that gap will quickly erode.

The men around the world are generally all top notch fit, so that's not the difference there. The United States men are missing an innate technical and tactical sense that can't be coached in via drills, etc.

The men were in the championship game, but I get your point.

To be clear, having grown up in Italy, I can assure you that people in countries like Intaly, Germany, Mexico, etc, etc, etc, grow up playing nothing but this game pretty-much every waking moment they aren't in school. While that doesn't automatically make them better, it doesn't hurt.

And I'll add that it's a different culture, where we have our kids playing football, baseball, hockey, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, SCUBA diving, taking flight lessons, scouts, and playing musical instruments (so they can figure out the things they love) many of these places don't distract their larger young population with such diversity in activities. That's not an excuse, it's just a reality for parents/families trying to break the "one sport wonder" kid.
