Stan Kroenke buys Largest Ranch in Texas
http://www.chron.com/homes/article/L...25-6818219.php
Professional sports mogul and rancher Stan Kroenke, whose holdings include the Los Angeles Rams football team, has been approved to purchase the iconic W.T. Waggoner Ranch in north Texas, representatives of the sale announced Tuesday. The historic property, considered the largest U.S. ranch behind one fence, had been on the market for 18 months at an asking price of $725 million. Terms of the potential sale were not disclosed, according to a news release from Perry Street Communications, a Dallas consulting firm. |

Yep, that looks like a new roof.
It's certainly enormous as ranches go, but when you do the math it doesn't seem that huge. If it was a perfect circle it would have roughly a 33 mile diameter. Yeah, that's a lot of land to own, but you could still drive from one end to the other in a half hour.

This is very near where I spent half of my childhood (Wichita Falls, TX). The landscape there leaves something to be desired....
It's big enough to have land in 6 different counties. Look at the huge area this covers:

I'm honestly disappointed that there isn't a ranch in Texas bigger than all of Rhode Island. Square mileage of Rhode Island: 1,212. EDIT: Dang, too slow...

We have 38 counties in Colorado that are bigger, if that helps.

Forget a Hollywood mansion, that sounds nice to me. Wide open spaces, peace and quiet, nobody around for many miles. Plenty of room for whatever you want to do. Sounds great.

This is just a ploy to meet Chip and Joanna. Is it close enough to Waco?

Poco Bueno died November 28, 1969. Mr. Waggoner left specific instructions in his will that Poco Bueno was to be buried in a standing position in a grave across from the ranch entrance on Texas Highway 283. The plot of ground was landscaped with trees and grass. A granite marker, weighing four tons, was engraved with his name, picture and the inscription Champion and Sire of Champions. In 1990, Poco Bueno was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame.
