Chiefs E! Greenlights Dating Competition Series With NFL Star Travis Kelce - Page 2

E! has ordered eight episodes of Catching Kelce, a dating competition series starring Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, for premiere later this year.

Fifty eligible women, one from each state in the U.S. will be invited to Los Angeles as Kelce searches for that special someone to become his lifelong “teammate.” Kelce will be joined by famous friends and family to help him along his journey, but in the series finale, only he can decide who is the right woman for him. The dating series has a twist, though. While Kelce will be deciding who stays in the house and who is sent home along the way, the women are able to strategically decide who is attending the all-important group dates. The debate becomes: do you pick your friends and keep those loyalties strong, or choose the “weakest” contenders to make yourself stand out? Lines will be drawn and friendships will be tested as the women pick and choose who gets the extra time with this football superstar.

“On top of being a well-respected athlete, Travis has a fun-loving, over the top personality that draws people to him, and we are excited to give our viewers an up-close look at his search for love,” said Jeff Olde, EVP, Programming and Development, E!.

In his first full year on the Kansas City Chiefs, Kelce had 67 catches, 862 yards, and five touchdowns to lead all the Chiefs, while his 503 yards after catch led all NFL tight ends. In 2014 and 2015, Kelce was a top vote getter for “Touchdown Dance of the Year.” Off the field, the NFLPA has named him one of their “Community Players of the Year.” Dedicated to his charity Eighty-Seven & Running, Travis spends much of his time working with less fortunate kids throughout the city.

Catching Kelce is produced by Grandma’s House Entertainment. Ben Newmark and Dan Newmark of Grandma’s House Entertainment, Scott Langerman of ACE Media, and Lauren Stevens are executive producers. Adam Bold and Mike Lopez of Grandma’s House Entertainment will serve as producers.

Also don't like the fact he'll be diverting his attention to something other than football, reality shows haven't been kind to football players careers (Decker is the only one that comes to mind that continued to succeed).

Having said that, I'll be watching every episode. One of my favorite players and one of the best personalities in the league that people haven't fully caught onto yet. His snapchat is great.

Players aren't allowed to have lives outside of football? This is such an old man attitude. You think they are all studying game film 18 hours a day even in the offseason? I'm sure you didn't take any time away from work to, say, post on a message board or anything.

Not saying the man shouldn't have hobbies, but a camera following you around and you having to fulfill your TV show obligations seems like something that will get in the way of his workouts/preparations.

Look at Desean Jackson with his aspiring rap career and the annual hamstring issues that accompanies it due to lack of preparation. Decker usually has some injury he's battling, and both T.O. and Hank Baskett had issues as well (albeit they were on their way out anyways).

I just don't like one of the young star players on the team to try to juggle a tv show on top of everything else, and history shows it usually isn't beneficial for the player on-field.

It's not that big of a deal. The show will probably film for four week, six weeks, max. From that, the production company will have thousands of hours of video to edit into eight 30 or 60 minute episodes.

The editing makes the filming look like it's going on forever but in reality, it's just a short period of time in most cases.

Yeah I don't see why anyone would have a problem with this. I'm sure Jared Allen went on months long hunting and fishing trips during the offseason. He probably wasn't even near a gym!

I just checked in with reality TV producer that did Eric Decker's show and his response was "it didn't seem to hurt his production, so I'm sure Kelce will be fine".

I just think of TO. What Kelce should be doing is working on his craft. Alex will be. I'd assume his team mates are less than thrilled about this. He's resting on his laurels football wise.

But I gotta get me one of these shows though. It's just Kelce getting laid. Bastard.

Yup. And if he fails it up in the 2016 season, we reserve the right to talk shit. Until then don't worry about it and let paid entertainers continue to entertain.
