Have you fallen recently?

We'll count a fall as anything that would mark you down in a football game. So any part of your body touches the ground other than hands or feet.

Have you gone down in the past year? We will have two categories: accidental falls and falls in sports or recreation (where one might expect to fall at some point).

Not recently, the last time could have been around 3-4 years ago. I raced my buddy in the street drunk and I lost my footing. Some terrible road rash lol.

1 accidental fall. Putting staging together for a drama production and I stepped backwards onto a 2x4. Lost my balance and landed on my hand. Jacked up my wrist for a little while but nothing major.

In the past 12 months, I have no falls that I can remember. I've almost gone down a time or two on runs where I tripped on something, but I didn't go down.

As far as I can remember, I've had three falls in the past five years:

1. During a trail race, I tripped on a rock and went down hard off the trail. That one drew blood in a couple of places, and I still had a couple of miles to finish the race.
2. I wore socks on a carpeted staircase and slipped, going down. That one wasn't fun, but wasn't serious other than jamming a toe against a door frame.
3. I feel going up some stairs when I caught my toe on a step. That one didn't do anything but annoy me since my hands were full.

I slipped on some black ice and fell carrying my daughter in her removable infant car seat. Fortunately I was able to set the car seat on its bottom, so she barely got jostled at all. I fell again last winter pushing a car into one of our bays to be worked on. I slipped on the ice and nailed my face on the bumper. Definitely not my most graceful moment, but Red Wings are not ice proof lol.

Oh, dang. You reminded me. I took two spills on the ice last winter, which may be my first two ice falls ever. I totally forgot about that. In one instance I think my head was the first thing to hit the ground and I was amazed at how fast it happened. The second time I had a suitcase in tow and couldn't catch myself, and the ice ended up shearing off some skin on one of my fingers. I showed up at work bloodied.

As y'all may know, it gets icy up here in Canada. Especially around January where I'm from (Toronto) temperature peaks around -25.....It's not that bad though here compared to other cities or provinces across the great white north. Manitoba, Yukon, North West territories and yeah I've been to those places; it could get up to -40 with the wind chill. If you stand outside for 5-10 minutes without the proper attire, you're definately asking for a frost bite.

Anyway, to get to the point, last year I was shovelling my driveway and slipped on a big piece of ice about 30" in diameter and landed right on my tail bone. Hurt like a sumbitch but surprisingly didn't break or fracture any bones around that area.

I was walking down some stairs in Cannes, France coming out of some night club. Wasn't actually very inebriated but turned around to say something to my buddy and missed a step. I went flying and nailed my knee HARD into the pavement. Hurt like a bitch!

Of course being a tough guy (and from embarrassment), I got up right away - bad idea. I passed out! (Does this now count as two falls?)

Not my greatest moment. 3 months later and I still have a some pain when putting pressure on that spot of my knee.
