RESILIENCE! Not that we've ever been down for long in these playoffs, you gotta love that this team is giving it all and our defense is always there for us, and the pitching. When we start scoring runs its like a trifecta of Royals baseball power

Hard to try to write something up as well as you do George, you need to just hire me as a proof reader for facts.

1. I believe the British Viagra Chick is going to end up getting an STD from Creepy Rob Lowe. And if I have to see one more Cialis commercial, I'm gonna go postal. Is there not a single baseball fan who can get a stiffie these days? I've been hard since the 9th inning of the A's game!

I'm bored and will give this a go.
10) I'm going to say I was a believer. Huge Chiefs fan, but the Royals have always had my heart and I love baseball in a much more emotional way than football. I start every year like most I'd believe, hoping for the best, trying to rationalize and reason with myself why "this season will be different". I still curse them on a daily basis and there were MULTIPLE times this season where I'd tell myself to face reality and realize this team is again too flawed to compete 162. Gladly eating crow now 9) Butler- I still don't think he's playing great, but certainly a little better. I do, however think he's past his prime. His pitch recognition has been steadily worse, he's having more trouble catching up to fastballs, and his power drop off is less a bad season and more just who he actually is now IMO. Decline option, only bring back if he's willing to do a 1Y/$6M type deal. Aoki- I loved the pickup (a supposed TRUE leadoff hitter) when we made the deal. Hated him by June. Love the little dude right now. He's a frustrating matchup for a pitcher I think. And I do believe the guy we've seen the past 2 months is the real Aoki. Not sure if we'll bring him back, but wouldn't hate the idea. Moose- I just can't bring myself to give up on this guy. I think EVERYONE has said at one point or another that if he can be a .250/.310/.430 guy then we'd take it. I don't know if he'll ever make it there, but I think the defense and attitude and effort give me pause in ever writing him off. He'd be so freaking valuable if he could just learn to go with the pitch and use all fields. I have about 25% confidence he'll figure it out. That being said, I can live with the guy for the intangibles. 8) Yordano, Shields, Vargas, Guthrie, Duffy. I only have Duffy last bc it's clear he's not starting any postseason game. I think he's #2 in value with respect to the whole season as well as if I was ranking next years rotation. Shields is #2 due to experience. And I really do believe he had an effect on attitudes and confidence that can't be quantified by a stat. But I do NOT want to re-sign him, unless it was a 2/35 deal which we know is not realistic. I believe his best days are behind him, but he was absolutely worth the trade. 7) Finnegan was a steal. I could care less than to waste any time writing about the others. Other than Chen...I'll always like Chen. I just don't want to ever see him pitch again. 6) Who should? Cain, Gordo, Hosmer**** Who will? Gordo, Perez, Hosmer. I think Perez will win again. And I don't necessarily thing he doesn't deserve it (no other great candidates) He's a stud and I love that he's ours for a long time. I do think he had a down year on defense as well as offense thoug. 5) Absolutely not. He was worth it. I don't even question the deal. But we should not re-up with him at what it will cost in years and dollars. 4) I love Ned. He makes me tear my hair out sometimes. And some of his moves I disagree with. But he's good with the players and a manager never gets credit for wins, only questioned after losses. His approach with the media is probably one of the main reasons he gets as much shit as he does. He really could care less to give them an answer they want or even talk to them in the first place. It's actually kind of funny to me. 3) I think our payroll will approach $100M. I don't think they've held us back at all over the last few years and after this season, I would guess they'll be even more apt to trust Dayton when/if he asks for a little more green. 2) Can't make fun of "the process" anymore. Give him a couple more years and dollars if he's asking for it. He's earned it in my book. 1) Salvy is obviously the energy of the franchise. I don't think anyone has more fun, and conversely loosens up the rest of the team more than this kid. I think the closeness of this group is easily identifiable. And I also think it contributes to our success, though it's impossible to know how much. BGJ has obviously done A LOT in the way of being the "veteran and experience" that the younger guys see and respect. Gordo leads by example and needs to be a Royal for life. |
