It's too bad it came down to a penalty. It's worse that we are clinging to it as if it really explains why the team lost.
Actually, at work today I've had a surprising number of people who grew up from all parts of the country who watched the game chime in unsolicited that it was a horseshit call and conveniently decided the game.

They're not going to lose sleep over it, but when people recognize that there's an incongruous set of rules for certain teams then they start to no longer buy into the authenticity of the sport and it enters the realm of sports entertainment just above WWE.

Sans the NFL's elite leadership and people from areas of the teams that are benefiting from it, we're there.

It's a mix between reality TV and the WE at this point. Bring in the clowns....

Looked like a hold to me

I do agree that it was the patented technique to keep Hali from getting to the QB in his prime. Though, I remember pointing out that Hali gets blatantly held 90% of the time and people on here telling me that the hook around the neck is not a hold an never called. So, whatever.

I'm pissed at that call, at that time in the game, but I'm more pissed at Wilson, Maclin, and Kelce dropping passes. I'm more pissed at Alex Smith not seeing receivers streaking down the field with nobody defending them. I'm more pissed at the defense only forcing one punt all game.

We were fortunate to even be in that position.

That's the key point. Arguing about whether it was a legitimate penalty or not is off point. The calls are too arbitrary and subjective. The real question is whether that flag would have been thrown against every team in the league, and it wouldn't. Some teams consistently get the calls in their favor and others don't.

Why? When they don't get called for holding on numerous plays, that extends drives and let them kick all those FGs.

One less FG and they lose. They were allowed to manufacture points by not calling penalties. When the Chiefs tied it up, the refs then decide to step in and take points away.

The flag might as well have been for "being the Chiefs", 10 yard penalty & replay the 2 point try.

Is the Steeler's O-Line that good or do they have a secret way to get away with holds? I know some pictures have been posted, but it must be happening every down to facilitate Bell's running style. Also, does anyone have a clip of their final 3rd-down conversion? I cannot find it and some are saying there was a blatant hold on that one. Regardless, shame on Sutton for dropping Houston into coverage.

You know what sucks about being a Chiefs fan?

San Francisco had The Catch.
Denver had The Drive.
We are stuck with The Hold.

The real fact is that Fisher was beat and he held his guy and drew the flag.

Earlier in the game they talked about the delay of game calls. I saw early in the game kc got away with the play clock clearly at zero, then they called the Steelers on it and said sometimes it takes an official time to look up and see the ball not snapped and it benefits the O, they get a second or split second.

If Fisher makes a clean block you guys tie and probably lose on a late FG, who knows. Fisher didn't make a clean block, got caught by an official who saw it and knew it was a foul and did his job.

It isn't whether it gets called consistently, it is that Fisher got caught committing a hold on the biggest play of the game.

If the NFL moved to full time officials and they all called that play 100% then it still would have been a flag. Crying about it not being called 100% of the time when he clearly got caught holding is weak.

They were consistently holding, and I don't know why it was never called. It was blatant. On one play where the Steelers were backed up toward their end zone, their gun-toting, Aaron-Hernandez-befriending center was literally bear-hugging Ramik Wilson and pulling him away from the play. As their egocentric running back cut away from Ramik, the center let go and raised his arms in the air as a profession of innocence, just like he probably did when Aaron Hernandez shot those guys in the car in south Florida. No penalty was called and the announcers professed amazement at the egocentric running back's ability.

Maybe if they make that call for us instead of against us 10% of the time, it'd be an easier pill to swallow.

If I have to hear another word from Cris Collinsworth about his ability to stutter step through the holes I'm going to vomit. I dubbed him stutter pecker last night.

And each time he did it, it was with such stealth!

It'll be interesting to see if Bill/Matt has as much of a problem as Andy/Bob did with figuring out how to defend it. I'll bet one of the Pat's goes over the top at least once if the traditional "hit him while he's stopped and all but standing there" method fails. And if that scheme requires the O-line to hold in order to open a hole (if...), I'll bet they get into an official's grill very early.

And I have no doubt that if that scheme is working, when they get him stood up, they'll sweep the legs and give him a little something extra to process on any ensuing attempts. IOW, I don't think the Pats will miss how dirty the Steelers are from the last few games they've played, and I don't think they'll dismiss it and not respond in kind.
