Batman sequel 'Rises' again

LOS ANGELES - THE next Batman sequel has a title: The Dark Knight Rises. Distributor Warner Bros. confirmed the name for director Christopher Nolan's third adventure about the DC Comics vigilante hero, which follows Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008.

The Dark Knight Rises is due in theaters July 20, 2012. Bucking Hollywood's current wave of 3-D movies, Nolan is not planning to shoot the film in 3-D.

Warner Bros had agreed with Nolan's argument that the sequel should resist the 3-D craze, the director told the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex blog, which first reported the title.

Nolan would not reveal what villain might appear in The Dark Knight Rises, but he said it would not be the Riddler, one of the key bad guys in the comics and past film and TV Batman tales.

Earlier this year, Nolan said he would not resurrect the Joker, the cackling villain played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. Ledger won the supporting-actor Academy Award for the role, a year after he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. -- AP

I'm just gonna put all the trailers and tv spots together and then I won't have to go to the theater to see it. I don't remember them showing this much of The Dark Knight before its release...

The plot seems pretty obvious and thin, starting with the title. I've read nothing about it and seen nothing but the trailers, and it's connect the dots.

1.) Bane shows up.
2.) Bane preaches anarchy against society, the rich, and Gotham itself.
3.) People start rioting and following him (including ripping through Wayne Manor.)
4.) Batman suits up and faces Bane.
5.) Batman gets his ass kicked and his back broken.
6.) Batman survives and mulls whether or not to return.
7.) Batman returns.
8.) Batman kicks Bane's ass.
9.) Nolan makes millions.

And I'm going to be in Anaheim the day this comes out....well actually traveling to Las Vegas on my way home. I am contemplating finding a theater on the way and stopping and seeing it.

The running time for the upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises has been revealed as 164 minutes and 27 seconds.
According to the official BBFC posting for Christopher Nolan's final foray in Gotham, this will make The Dark Knight Rises the longest film in trilogy.
Batman Begins ran for 140 minutes, whilst The Dark Knight lasted a bum-numbingly enjoyable 153 minutes. At nearly two and three-quarter hours you're sure to get value for money, but maybe reconsider taking a drink in with you.
The film's UK classification was also revealed in the posting as a 12A, the same as the previous movies'.

I read somewhere....couldn't tell you where.....that the Joker was going to be part of the breakout of Arkham.
