Today would have been my dad's 90th birthday
For my 15K post, I thought I'd honor my dad.

He was born the day the stock market crashed in 1929. He passed away last Thanksgiving day. He was the oldest kid and took over as the father figure at age 9. He drove school buses at age 14 and worked many jobs to care for the family.

The amount of things he saw in his lifetime was staggering. He served in the Navy and was a cop/detective for over 30 years.

He was a big guy, 6'3" 230 lbs. He looked and acted like John Wayne. He was a tough guy and dad. After my mom passed he became very sweet and loved by all.

Now that he's passed, I too have changed. I feel him in me every day. I hope to be the man he was some day.

Good post. Your dad sounds like he was a badass. Sorry for your loss bud. I lost my dad to cancer when I was 16. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about him and wish he was still here. Family is everything, especially as you get older. Football is a close second though lol.

Sounds like he had a heck of a life. My dad is 80 and actually is working at the local library to keep himself busy. He has been a bit out of sorts since my mom dies last Thanksgiving but things like working helps fill his day. He fully expects to live another 10 years which is not nearly long enough for me!
