**** The Official CJ Beathard Thread ****

Dumb time to post this thread...2 minutes before kickoff on opening day for the Chiefs.... tried to finish in time!!!!

C.J. Beathard looked amazing last night vs. a really shitty Iowa State team. Still though, the guy is probably the best QB Iowa has had since Chuck Long. Some of his passes were just incredible...a TD to a kid named Vandenberg in particular.

At this point, he has year to lose a regular season game as QB for the Hawkeyes.... lost a close Big Ten Championship game and lost to Stanford in the Rose Bowl...he has been the Iowa QB since halfway through his Sophomore season when he beat current NFL QB (drafted last year....transferred to Michigan and started last year) Jake Rudock roughly half way through the season. So he has kept this regular season undefeated streak alive for some time now.

His grandpa is Bobby Beathard. I always think of him as the guy who drafted Ryan Leaf (oops), but the guy was a GM or a lead scout for 7 teams that played in the Super Bowl, 4 that won including: THE 1966 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS, THE 72 and 73 Dolphins, the Redskins in 82, 83 and 87 and San Diego in 1994.

I guess the reason that I mention his grandpa for a couple reasons...he has distant connections with the Chiefs (wonder if he kept in touch with the Hunt family) and although he is long gone, I am sure he still has strong connections in the NFL.... I bet his grandson will be scouted even heavier since he is who he is than if he never had those ties...and accomplishments.

Some NFL mock sites have Beathard as a top 2-3 QB in the class prior to this season. Some have him way down in the 8-10 range.

Will the Chiefs draft him? I can see Chiefs picking a QB early this year.... hell, even the sadistic Walter Football doofus, who always has us picking fatties with out first two picks, has the Chiefs projected to go with a CB in the first, a QB in the 2nd.

This is probably the most optimistic I've ever been when it comes to the Chiefs drafting a QB early in the following draft.

Will it be Beathard. I'd be ok with it. The guy was a straight up baller last night. Looked the part. Way better than Stanzi ever was.

Anyways:

Rated 2nd overall QB on nfldraftscout.com

His measurables are posted and non copy-pastable on that site.

He is 6'2, 215 pounds.

Here are his 2015 highlights. Not bad. So far, he looks INSANELY good this year...better than what you see of him in the 2015 highlights.

What are your thoughts on him? So many of you are way better football minds than me, so let me know...am I wrong for thinking he could be good? Should the Chiefs take him.

I mean, Beathard threw a pick 6, but other than that, he was fine...and banged up to boot.

Man, that Freshman that came in for a couple plays had some fire.

Wait ... What?

Elite QB don't care about drops, they just throw it so hard that it impales the WR so they can't drop it. Elite QB don't need any help. /CP

That NDSU oline has some serious size, and they were pushing Iowa's shit in.

Yep. Unacceptable. Iowas Oline also was a no show. 50 something yards rushing. Horrible.

Iowas run game was virtually nonexistent. Very disappointing. Beatherd played reasonably well, needs to up his completion percentage though. The pick six had nothing to do about a bad decision and really wasn't a throw. Was more about lacking pocket awareness and offensive line failed to protect the rush on that play. Nonetheless do not want Beathard to be a Chiefs QB OTFR even though I think bes fantastic for Iowa.

Very disappointing loss. Was very surprised how good NDSU looked, in terms of their size, toughnesz and defense. I mean they've won the FCS championship 5 years in a row so its really not as big of an upset as it may seem, still a game Iowa needs to easily win. Really takes the luster out of what kind of year the Hawks could have had
