Lol what do you actually expect out of a rookie drafted in the 3rd round after 3 preseason games?

Russell hasn't been any worse than Nelson and Conley last year after 3 preseason games.

Yeah but the guy has decent size, big hands and is a very good athlete. No way do guys like that make it through waivers. Teams are always looking for guys with athleticism and size, especially him being that cheap.

He'll get the Dee Ford/Steven Nelson treatment. Redshirt year.

Well, it still sucks. The Chiefs will likely keep only 5 CB's and they'll be burning a spot on the 53 on a guy that won't play.

I disagree. Let's give him a year to improve and see what develops. Also, no way he clears waivers. He was high on most draft boards. Guaranteed someone would take a flyer on him just because it would be like getting a free draft pick. You remember all the guys that Dorsey grabbed off waivers his first year here? There are other GM's who would jump at the chance to grab him. Then if he develops into what everyone thought he would, that team just capitalized off of our impatience. Nope. He stays for now.

He has outright sucked ass in preseason and was beaten out by a 6th rounder.

As a matter of fact, he sucked so bad that the Chiefs gave up a draft pick in a trade for a CB today.

I'm not saying that he hasn't been a disappointment. He certainly has to this point. But you just don't see teams cutting bait on a 3rd round pick this soon.

Dane, you should probably pump your brakes on Russel. At one point this year, he's gonna push for playing time with the 1s. He was late to practices due to his agent, give him time to catch up.
