If you want to see what baseball's become just look at the Brewers and Nationals series. This weekend they played games that finished 15-14 and 16-8.

The teams combined for 11 home runs last night, and 12 more today. Yikes.

When managers are actively campaigning to end professional baseball games early on a little league style mercy rule something is broken within the sport.

This season, Wade Davis is 1-0 with a 0.63 ERA in road matchups.

He is 0-5 with a 10.97 ERA at home.

The W/L record for closers is always fickle due to their small margin for error late in games but that ERA differential is brutal. On a related note, I wanted to pick a possible upstart team that I got odds(40-1)that would be worth a bet on, to win the WS. So I dropped $50 on.......wait for it.....The Rockies!!!

A national article about Alex Gordon.

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/as-othe...232807760.html

Quote:
Gordon has only certainty about 2020: It’s Royals or bust.

“I’m not going to play anywhere else,” Gordon said. “If I play, it’s going to be for the Royals.”

Whether he plays, though, is the big question.

His contract has a $23 million mutual option for next year with a $4 million buyout, and the Royals could always buy him out and then sign him to a new deal.

Or, Gordon could choose to hang up the spikes.

Gordon said there are some days when he feels an overwhelming sensation to return. There are others when his body is sore and he misses his family of five. Those are the days when the 35-year-old feels it may be that time.

Gordon is enjoying his best offensive season since he re-signed although he’s scuffled as of late, posting a .258 average and a .737 OPS.

He is hopeful he can finish strong.

“I just want this season to be over with and step back and see if I still have the drive and motivation to come back and play again,” Gordon said about making a decision on his future. “And if they want me back too.”

Good. He should finish here. I’m okay if he plays one more year but would like the buyout and smaller deal option. If he chooses to retire, good for him. The disdain for this guy from some is head scratching to me. Lifelong Royal who had some unreal years, played top of the line defense almost his whole career, and hit probably the most important(note: I’m not saying most famous)HR in franchise history.

I haven't watched a game all season but back when I did watch, I hated that cringey shit. I don't know what they were thinking with that.
