Official 2015-2016 NBA Regular Season Thread

I don't believe this thread has been started yet, so here you go.

Good start to the season, key guys appear to be relatively healthy. As a basketball fan, good to see the Thunder back at full strength, as a Grizzlies fan notsomuch.

The West is just so deep, hard to figure out who comes out on that side. If the Cavs stay healthy, hard to imagine they don't represent the East.

If we have a group interested in a fantasy basketball league, I'd be happy to set it up.

As I've said many times to you, it's a great gig when nothing you do wrong is attributable to you at all and everything that goes right is. Good for Griffin.

And you still haven't answered my question. I don't know how I can make the question any clearer. What bad moves attributed to Lebron am I wrong about? What good moves attributed to Lebron did I miss? Pretty simple question.

like as a team there is not enough ball movement. They lack poise and patience.

I would like to see them take their time a little more when they have the ball. You know move the ball well, wait for guys to set up and get those open looks. Not enough of that sh*t goes on. And as a result, they rush their shots and miss as well. The lack of poise, patience, playmaking ability in turn affects their shooting ability.

If they could just improve the team dynamics within, I tell ya they'd be a better shooting team.

They could match up against Lebron if they were a good shooting team. But as it stands now, it's not the case. If the Raptors played Cleveland today they'd lose in 5 games. But if they improved the team dynamics and overall shooting, Cleveland and Raps would go to 7 games. And game 7 could go either way.

*At the end of the day, I love my Raptors still. We the North baby! Woooo! Sorry I just had to throw that in there guys
Their biggest problem is they don't have one of the top players in the World. In the end you gotta have them. Lowry is good but he's not Lebron, Steph or Kawhi. Those are the guys you gotta have. The only team that could get in that mix is the Thunder, but they would have to significantly upgrade the 2 guard spot or they are hopeless as well. I don't see it happening. Essentially, it's a 3 horse race barring injuries or impact trades.

Excited for Warriors Spurs tomorrow. It's about the first NBA game I've really been excited for this year.

I recommend you keep your eyes on Demar DeRozan.

He is an ascending player. If he gets his 3 point shot down, he'll be a top 10 player in the league.

Raptors do the things well that you can't quantify. They hustle for loose balls, they out-scrum guys in the paint and put themselves in good position to win rebounds, they drive the basket and draw fouls, their coverage units on defense are sound, etc. These are requirements for champion. Plus they play with sw agger, fortitude, attitude and they basically send the message out to the opponent saying, "look, you're not going to beat me. I am going to beat you." They have that competitive mentality and edge.

*The team chemistry is also growing together by the day. These guys have been playing together for a while now and are gaining more experience and familiarity with each other. These things don't get looked upon from time to time.

All other elite teams do those "scrappy" type plays too. It's not like Steph, LeBron, or Kawhi don't dive for loose balls.

And DeRozan as good as he is, isn't and will likely never be a top 10 player. He'll always be a really good but not elite player in the league.

Even if Demar doesn't reach that elite player status, I think it's reasonable and realistic to say that he could be a top 10 player with respect to his position.

He kinda reminds me of Richard Hamilton but with a bit more scoring and explosiveness. Kyle Lowry is a top 10 point guard in the league. Which leads to me saying Raptors have an all-star back court with great team chemistry.

For the most part, you do need elite players to win championships. I'm saying this because I'm referencing back to okchiefs post. I somewhat agree with him, but, on the other hand, I've seen teams win championships without elite players but those teams were just great teams.

Look at the 2004 Detroit Pistons for example. They didn't have elite players that blew you away. But, that team had great team chemistry. They outhustled, and out worked the opposition on most nights. They had a collective group of guys that play with attitude and an edge better than most teams. And they never quit. That team brought it in the playoffs and had players that delivered under the clutch. They had great coaching, defense, smarts, great team morale and leadership but not one elite player. Just solid players that played well together, executed when it mattered. Got the job done and excelled at the fundamentals of the game.

Sometimes all of these combined triumphs over anything else.

The Spurs are still in this game despite not being able to dribble or hold onto the ball tonight.

And the officiating just went to absolute shit.

They were letting them play in the 1st and then calling ticky tack bullshit on the Spurs while letting Golden State hammer the Spurs in the 2nd.
