Adam Silver is the best commissioner in sports

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13...-telecasts-699

Quote:
NBA fans who want to watch out-of-market games that are not on national television can now do so by the game.

The league announced Wednesday that, for the first time, fans can pay $6.99 to buy any NBA game next season. Fans will be able to watch the game on broadband for computers, tablets and mobile devices. It is not clear which television distributors will participate in offering single games.

In the past, fans could only buy all out-of-market games for the season, but this year, the league is also offering a team package, where a fan who lives out of the primary market can get all the team's games for $119.99.

The price for the full League Pass -- which has been available since 1994 -- will remain $199.99, but even NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in March at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference that "most people don't want to consume that many games."

There are no immediate plans to sell pieces of games, like to allow a fan to buy the last couple of minutes of a game by clicking on a link within their Twitter or Facebook timeline, but that could be something the league will look at in the future, one team source said.

The pricing announced is for U.S. fans only. League Pass is available in more than 200 countries, according to the NBA.
I wish the ****ing NFL would do this. I'd pay $20 a game to watch Chiefs games and Chiefs games only.

but that's exactly why $20 a game is genius

If some moron buys 16 Chiefs games at $20 a pop ... he just paid more for the individual game package then the entire package itself

It's good for people like me who ... goes to 3 or 4 games ... goes to bars for 3 or 4 games ... doesn't want DirecTV ... and will burn $20/game 8-10 times

did I mention I don't want DirecTV?

So yeah, it's still cheaper for those to just buy the entire package that have DirecTV ... but this gives the the other people with a streaming device an option to buy games PPV

Unfortunately, I doubt that's allowed because DirecTV pays a trillion dollars to keep that from happening

FORTUNATELY, I have relatives with the Ticket and the XBox One has an App ...

UNFORTUNATELY, the game is always about 10 seconds behind so I can't be on CP and watch the game at the same time since you ****ers spoil everything

What parity did the NBA have during the Jordan era you speak so fondly of?

You just referenced the early 2000s as a golden age of the NBA.

The west alone this year was crazy. I had no idea who was going to come out of that conference come playoff time. Injuries kind of took some excitement out of it but there has never been parity like that before in any year I can remember

If you're watching the western conference then yes. The eastern conference is a dumpster fire.

The east isn't a dumpster fire. The wizards have good up and coming talent, the Bucks have young talent etc.

In the end, it's probably all an excessive to shit on lebron from the usual suspects

I would disagree with that somewhat. In the 90's just about every team had great players on it. Not anymore. All the talent is consolidated into a hand-full of teams. Most of which are in the West.

As a pretty big fan of the NBA, the west alone represents more parity than anything I've ever seen in the NBA. You really think there was parity when MJ was around in the 90s?

The Bucks could get real good fast. They may still be a piece or two away but assuming Jabari Parker comes back healthy, you essentially have added him and Monroe to a pretty solid starting lineup along with Giannis, MCW and Middleton.

People in the midwest should go away when giving an opinion on the nba. There is a reason why the nba is not here, cause we dumb.

I hate the NBA, but the thing I like about Adam Silver is that he is the only major sports commish who is refreshingly honest about sports gambling. He believes sports betting should be legal everywhere, as long as it is regulated like in NV. He also said flat-out that gambling increases interest in sports, and that for those concerns people traditionally have with point-shaving and corruption, you are going to spot that much easier in a regulated market than you will if you drive it overseas with no oversight.

The NBA doesn't have a team in the Midwest? I see you're as big a dumb **** when it comes to geography as you are on pretty much every other subject.
