I live in north Scottsdale/PV area which is not diverse. I am the first to admit I don't get inner city. On several recent occasions I've had to drive down town for business. Every time I have, including today, I've had to sit at a light waiting to turn because a black person deliberately walked as slow through the intersection as they could. Other people walked by them at a normal pace but they just sauntered. On one occasion the person looked at my car and actually slowed down even more.
What the hell? Am I imagining this or is this some kind of thing?

helps that you live in the south, with the race mentality scoring points for your thread. lots of overt racism in the south so it's easy to assume people are racist. (many case in points made in this very thread, actually)

also the fact that it's a city, more pedestrians in general than car drivers because well, public transportation, density of buildings/streets makes for an easier walk than drive especially in huge cities. but it's not a race thing unless it's made a race thing, which i think could be dissolved simply by observing someone of your own ethnic background doing the same thing to you with eye contact and all. also, you're driving, they're walking. how long have they been walking? do they have shoes on? could they be on drugs and unaware of the situation the danger they could be in walking in front of traffic? do they care? are they distracted? are they in hot/cold weather, is it a downpour/snow? are they stressed out, just find out their wife had a miscarriage? on the verge of killing themselves/someone else? did they get turned down for a job 10 minutes ago and now have to walk back to the library to go apply to jobs again? has this person ever even driven a car before? do they know what it's like to be in a hurry at a stopsign/light? etc.

and besides aren't there any hot women next to you in another car or walking near by you can check out while you wait for this group/person to cross? idk....in ari****ingzona

and none of that is to say you're not dealing with issues at all either but i'm just suggesting looking at it differently.

thing is, you're driving, they are walking...you're gonna get there faster anyway.
