Cockamamie Hog Shit that Pisses You Off

I had to buy a new battery, which normally isn't such a big deal. However, when I went to pop it out at the store (to avoid the core charge) the nut on the negative terminal was rounded off and I didn't have the tools to cut it off.

I get home and let it go for a few days, because I didn't feel like ****ing with it.

Just went outside and managed to get the 10mm rounded nut off with an 11/32 socket (didn't have to use the Dremel to cut it off, fortunately), but the metal strips that secure the battery down from the top are inveterate ****ing ****s, particularly the back strip, which is secured by a foot long rod with a hooked tip.

Trying to fit that mother****er into the back slot made me feel like one of those Apple slaves that launch themselves from the top of the factory into a better life. Of course, every time you try to tighten the front screw it moves the back post and nothing short of a ****ing voodoo spell was going to get that mother****er in.

That's the part that pisses me off about car repair. The job itself is never particularly difficult, but there is always one asshole mother****er of a fastener, nut, or screw the ends up taking 20 times longer than the ****ing job itself.

Am I the only one so enraged by such stupid shit?

One time I replaced a heater core in a 91' S10. Finished it up and had about 10 screws/bolts I forgot to put back in. It worked and never fell out.

At least it was a round number. Had it been 7 or 9 screws, you'd have been hosed.

It's not really an irrational hate kind of thing. More of a dumbass, convoluted, more complicated than it needs to be thing. The thing that makes Hamas' car cockamamie is that it takes 18 ****ing hands and an hour just to strap the battery to the box. It has nothing to do with the fact that it irritates him.

My normal trick when working on a car is to have everything going great and then right before I'm done, I drop a nut/bolt/tool into the rat's nest around the engine, usually never to be seen again.

I also can't seem to work on a computer without cutting my hand. I refer to that as my blood sacrifice to the computer demons.

Electrical work in the house sucks too. It's really hard to believe that wire nuts were the best we could come up with to connect wires together.

I don't know but I think it was the smartass way he said "maybe you've heard of a finders fee" more than asking for $20. If the dog had just ran away and they'd have found him near their home, I'd have offered to pay them before they asked. I don't expect anyone to handle my responsibilities or feed my animals. It could have escalated quickly. I wasn't paying and I wasn't leaving without the dog after he said that.

From the other end of something like that:

About a month ago a dog wandered into my yard at night. It was cold and rainy, and he was just standing there staring at my porch. So I go outside and bring him up on my porch and look for a tag. I couldn't bring him in because my dog is an asshole but I called the police with the tag number. They located the owners from the tag number. It took a long while for the owners to find our house, but they eventually pulled up and I returned their dog to them. Turns out it had been missing for a few days. That's it. End of story.

They just wander up to me. Happens a lot. You can tell from the body language that they're just hungry and freaking out because they're lost.

I'm on a Facebook page for lost/found pets in our county and there have been a rash of pets "rescued" from peoples' property and then ending up in the pound or local shelter. It seems to be primarily asshole neighbors doing it.

Heh. Most of the ones that come around my place just don't give a ****. About anything. So I take them back, because typically the owners are melting down.

It is different than picking the dog up and hauling it 7 miles.

I've discovered something else happening in our area....on craigslist or fb swaps....People are "rescuing" dogs and then listing them as needing a home for a "rehoming fee" of $25-50....and was shown a couple of examples today where someone said "hey, that's my dog that disappeared yesterday".
