****Official 2014 STL Cardinals thread ****

2011 WS Championship
2012 one win from another WS
2013 two wins from another WS title
2014?
  • This is a franchise that has made the postseason 10 times in the last 14 seasons.
  • Reached three World Series in the last decade, and won as many championships (two) the past eight seasons as it did from 1965 to 2005.
  • Our new Manager has more post season experience than any other manager in baseball, except the Giants manager.
  • Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.
  • 60 post season wins since 2004. 20+ wins more than any other team.
  • Only one of the last 14 seasons has been a losing one.

So the same reason you give Ellis AB's at 2nd over Wong?

Small sample size is definitely in play, but previous numbers aren't always as telling, as things change (age, emotion, etc).

As we all know his win total is way overinflated because of the historical run support he has received the last 3 years.

Yeah, win total and RBI's.

Two stats that have undergone a large amount of debate.

Its not just the wins, his SO rate is up there. My guess is he is solid other than the meltdown bad inning that derails him so the numbers look good for most of a game.

They're giving Ellis Ab's over Wong, because of his previous seasons and what he's done in the past. What does end of his career have to do with it?

It just doesn't look good on the part of management to hold certain players to different standards. It reaks of cronyism.

If Lynn can locate his fastball, he's a solid 3/4 type pitcher.

Problem is, his mental instability and lack of composure rear it's head far to often or it has in big situations.

Wonder what happens to Jay when Taveras comes up? I'd hope they'd keep Bourjos and Grichuk up, but I doubt it.

I agree with you on Wong 100%. That has jack and shit to do with bailing on Craig right now.

The Craig and Carpenter contracts are starting to look shaky, though. I'm not writing anyone off at this point, but just striking discussion.

They need to rectify that hasty decision right now, today. His replacement is hitting .143 and Delcasco will hit .200 if you stick him in there.

Everyone on the team wasn't hitting but Wong goes down? That was total BS.
