I apologize. I thought we were discussing a historically elite defense, not a defense that occasionally mostly does it's job.

And as for 'don't want to hear' the only thing I didn't/don't want to hear was another lackluster Chiefs playoff outing. And whay people mistakenly think is some Alex bandwagon is just the realization that he's not our biggest or only problem.

'Replace him with someone, anyone, because no one could be worse' is reerun step one.
'The only thing we need is a QB change, everything else [ie, those other random people on the field we also pay 100s of $Ms to wear the same jersey as our sainted QB] is dynasty in the making' is reerun step two.

Drew Brees threw for 250 yards a game with 8 TD and 0 INT during his SB run.

Now mix in Brady's two runs and that's 6 of the last 8 Super Bowl runs that have featured elite quarterbacking.

And Russell Wilson had 26 TD passes and was 5th in the league in YPA during the Seahawks regular season. In two of their playoff games he averaged TWELVE yards per attempt.

You're straight up talking out your ass.
Flacco QB rating 87.7
Eli manning QB rating 93
Russell Wilson 101
Rodgers QB rating 101
Tom Brady QB rating 97 (2014) , 112 (2016)
Peyton Manning 67.9

Alex Smith's average QB rating over the last 5 seasons (94) places him ahead of Eli, Peyton and Flacco during their SB run seasons. Smith is going to be hovering near 100 in QB rating this season now that he finally has decent receivers and an O-line not ranked in the bottom ten. Mark it down.

Literally no one has said the 2016 Chiefs were historically elite on defense.

They were certainly good enough to to advance further in the postseason than one and done, though.

We've already seen Alex squander THREE top 5 defenses, though, so why does it matter how good the defense is?

It doesn't, and it never will with this douche as our QB.

Why don't you look up Flacco's QB rating during his Super Bowl run and shove it up your lying ass.

And Smith is on a downward trend, straight to hell. He'll never hit 100.

18 point s in a play off game against a franchise QB is elite. The goal is to keep them under 20 points, the team did that.

While allowing the other team to completely dominate time of possession...that's elite?

How confident are you in this prediction? More or less than your claim that Tyreek wasn't even CFL worthy 8 months ago?

100% confident Alex Smith will not hit a 100 QB rating. That's season QB rating, mind you. Don't get cute.

Ben Roethlisberger sucks in the playoffs. He is the only reason the defense only allowed 18 points.

Defense did alright but to say they did their job or were "****ing fantastic" is crazy.

They gave up way too many yards to say they did anything other than alright. The run D was pathetic. Bell had 30 car, 170 yds, 5.7 ypc... A great defense performance does not allow a RB to get 170 yds and 5.7 ypc.

Our run D needs some serious work. It was really bad all season long. Why this is being overlooked is beyond my understanding. I guess because the Alex Smith haters are so obsessed.

Anyway overall I felt the D did OK... Better than the offense? Absolutely but not that much better. Giving up 389 total yds is way too much. Sure the Red Zone D was amazing but having a great defensive performance is way more than just playing great D in the red zone.

It wasn't just our offense who didn't do enough to win. The defense deserves some blame for that playoff loss as well.

Ranking Cousins, Dalton, Tyrod Taylor, and Ryan Tannehill above Alex Smith is just plain stupid. Smith will never be Brady or Rodgers but he's better than those guys.
