Rabbit Issue
Any of you guys ever have any problems with rabbits tearing up your yard. I have one tricky rabbit from hell that has his favorite spot in my front yard. He apparently comes in very late Digs around in the same spot and sleeps there. The rabbit population is out of control around here. I have kept it down a little bit via lead poisoning, AKA my .22 long rifle with subsonic rounds.

I've tried a few things but haven't had any luck discouraging him yet. I'm thinking about pounding some nails through a round board about the size of the hole and moving some dirt over all but about 3/4" of the nails. I would guess when he hops on that once that that would run him off.

I would set a snare trap, but with my luck I would end up bagging one of the neighbors cats and cause a big neighborhood dust up.

Any of you guys have any experience dealing with these useless vermin?

Mine were making a home underneath my back yard shed and enjoying my garden. I bought a dozen smoke bombs and that seemed to do the job.

Different situation though.

Of course around here, the fox and rabbit population run in cycles. Lots of rabbits, soon we have lots of fox, then it turns around.

One of my buddies started up a business using this. One of the most effective way to go. Destroy their entire tunnel system and burrow. You can either buy the equipment yourself or see if anyone in your area is offering the service.

The make various granular and spray repellants but I have no idea if they work or not. I guess they don't like dried blood either, so I know what I will be doing with the next one I shoot.

My Crossman BB rifle made fertilizer out of many rabbits, but sadly, the seals on the thing finally wore out and no more air pressure would she hold. I had to retire the trusty rifle. I got me a brand new box of .410 shells, though.

Have you shot the .22LR CCI subsonic rounds? (great for all your urban hunting needs) They make less noise than a pellet gun.

On a side note, I just went out there and dumped a bunch of Garlic and Cayenne pepper where he like to lay. I figure if that doesn't run him off, it will make him stink which will prevent him from getting laid. I'll sleep better knowing that.
