Yeah, it's almost like in addition to completely changing his swing and approach, he also went from a part-time player to a full-time player and changed ballparks/leagues as well.
450% due to ballpark and swing. Unbelievable.

You absolutely won't budge. The only person I can think of with a similar trajectory (mid-teens hr/year to 50 in one year) is Brady Anderson.

Not at all. I'm totally open to the idea that Bautista was on steroids and is on steroids. In fact, I'd love him to be (as it would allow him to beat his normal aging curve like guys such as Ortiz and Volquez). The fact that somebody actually believes that there's some kind of magical drug out there that turns hitters from mediocre to elite is too ridiculous for words, though. If there was such a thing in existence, we'd probably be seeing transitions like that more than just one or two times in baseball history, no?

Yeah a scrawny runt. What did Donaldson and Bautista do - both like tripled their WAR every year since joining the BJs? And you've got guys like Encarnacion and Colabello going bananas. Reminds me of the Bash Brothers As. Even like Terry Steinbeck looked huge and was jacking homers all over the place.

You really think Donaldson and Bautista aren't juicing? Odds seem low.

The same logic can be applied to a swing/approach change, though. Cito Gaston has a great reputation, and I'm sure his coaching played a huge part in Bautista's success. But he cannot miraculously change someone's swing to make them hit 50+ HRs.
