Let's talk about the Chargers.

There's little doubt they have the league's best QB right now, as Philip Rivers is playing out of his mind. He's doing it with a damn good receiver corps, which features three WRs (Floyd, Allen, Royal) who are fast and run sharp, quick routes, which the Chiefs CBs struggle with, Marcus Cooper especially. And we still don't know what the Chiefs are going to do at the third CB spot to replace Chris Owens -- we might actually be trotting out Phillip Gaines. Yikes.

The biggest reason Rivers is ripping the NFL a new asshole, of course, has been the resurgence of Antonio Gates, who is playing like it's 2008. Gates is uncoverable right now, so it doesn't really matter if we bring Eric Berry back or not.

I don't know anything about the interior of the Chargers' OL, but their bookends of King Dunlap and DJ Fluker are (a.) really good in their own rights, and (b.) benefit from Phillip Rivers' excellent pocket presence and quick release.

The Chargers are banged up at RB, and I don't really know who's going to be starting there. Both Ryan Mathews and Donald Brown are out, so this kid Brandon Oliver has been racking up 100-yard performances both weeks. They've also got Ronnie Brown, and believe it or not, Shaun Draughn is still in the league.

This is the year the Chargers feature a defense every bit as good as their offense. Their DL is monstrous, with Kendall Reyes and Corey Liuget bookending an overachieving Sean Lissemore in the middle.

I like their ILBs more than their OLBs -- Manti Te'o and Donald Butler cover well and hit the line of scrimmage hard. It's a good thing they get a pocket push from Reyes and Liuget, because they have no edge rushers other than Dwight Freeney, who has actually played well despite being on social security.

The CBs are where San Diego is really hurting people. Brandon Flowers, Shareece Wright, and Jason Verrett is a small lineup, but they play hard, cover well, and will erase every WR not named Bowe from Alex's sight.

I have no opinion on Marcus Gilchrist but Eric Weddle is an opportunistic mother****er with a nose for the ball.

Our o-line may be the worst graded o-line on PFF.

Our d-line is probably one of the lower graded d-lines too.

Manti Teo will be out. Reggie Walker will be out. Brandon Flowers will be out. Melvin Ingram will be out. Shareece Wright will be out (probably).

We will be missing 6-8 starters.

There's no reason why you shouldn't win, except Rivers.

they definitely look beatable now. Of course, a game like that could wake them up too.

Oh dear lord,

You gave us Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith just to see Smith go on. Point is we're due. Hook a brother up.

If the Chiefs get outcoached by their own coaches again like they did against San Francisco, then there is no chance. But, if Andy and co. decide to play like they did against Miami and New England, it should be competitive. I just don't expect a win for KC in San Diego, but strange things sometimes happen in KC's favor.

Knowing KC we'll win in SD and lose a totally winable game. I'm starting to think the Chiefs have cornered the market on blood pressure medicine.

Who on earth are you starting at corner?

Interesting that your DL isn't graded well. I was a huge fan of Keyes coming out of UConn, and of course Liuget out of Illinois.

If we can eat clock like at Denver and keep Phyllis on the bench. Maybe we have a chance. After all the Raiders played them close......

I think we'll get murdered on the road and keep it respectable at home.

Still, we get swept...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

You never know...

Raiders got dominated by the Jets, Chargers beat Jets 41-0 , Raiders give Chargers all they can handle...

Go figure...

I am just messing with Cheap fans... I think the Cheaps will also give them all they can handle and more... and could easily beat them

You are really that scared of the Chargers Wine sipping Frenchman folks. Should be another hard close fought game just like against much tougher teams like Denver and Frisco were.

Repeat of Denver and San Fran. We keep lead some and lose in the fourth. Do we not play any home games this year?
