This was my first car in high school. No idea what my dad was thinking buying me one of these. 1998 Honda Prelude. One of my buddies who knew stuff about cars put "goodies" in it as he called it (sorry not a car guy) but it could get up to 140 mph and I had it up to that a few times. Now I'm scared to go faster than 85 mph lol.

Not going to lie, it was helpful with the ladies, even high school girls who shouldn't even envy materialistic things yet.

Your concern with VW should be the timing chains. Seems they go out at least every 100,000 miles and they gotta pretty much drop the whole front clip to change it. When you run out of warranty, they aren't cheap to replace.

Other than that, not too many big issues, but yeah all the parts are more expensive like any other German car. I used to work at a VW dealership. My bud also worked as a mechanic at a VW dealer.

If you go TDI you have to get that AdBlue shit added often enough, like every 12,000 miles or something.
