I heard that the costumes they made were too big to actually fit through an actual manhole, so they had to create an extra wide manhole for filming..

Illusion Industries concept artist Anthony Francisco has now shared the concept artwork he created as a part of the company's pitch to work on the film. The company wasn't hired, but the art shows you just what kind of ideas were being floated.

Remember, Bay originally pitched that the turtles were aliens in this movie. This was before the internet got a hold of the info and then the fans were outraged when they heard about the "alien" detail.

It looks like a giant mutant turtle??

I would have had no problem with that translation if they went with it. Would have been harder to animate emotions though. Maybe in a R rated film it would have been fine.

the masks would have looked like shit though.

I think the worst parts are the missing plastron on the belly and the weird, jagged carapace.
