I went and saw Youth Brigade Friday night. Turns out they don't think it's funny when you call them Middle Age Brigade.

On a sad note, it turns out one of my old time punk hero's is mortal after all.
The Exploited’s Wattie Buchan is in hospital after suffering a heart attack British punk-legends THE EXPLOITED have been forced to cancel their forthcoming tour dates with label-mates HATEBREED and cease all activities until May 2014. Singer Wattie Buchan suffered a heart attack on stage during the band’s concert last night (Thursday, February 13) in Lisbon, Portugal during the “Tour Of Chaos” with HATEBREED and NAPALM DEATH. THE EXPLOITED have released the following statement: ”We are sorry to say that due to a severe illness that Wattie can’t continue with the tour. He will be in hospital for at least a week. Thanks for all the get-well messages. Much appreciated. Regards.” |

Never really got into the hardcore scene, was always more interested in mod/ska lineage aspect about it The Specials > The Clash > The Jam > Operation Ivy > Choking Victim, though I do enjoy some Rudimentary Peni and Minor Threat from time to time. I upthefolkpunx these days:

I said for years and years in the car biz, where we had Sirius radio for free in the showroom... that metal/punk owes a LOT to that highly emotional, fast style of bluegrass picking/howling, if not stylewise then atleast emotionally those guys approximate the blistering speed and emotion of metal... LOVE IT. Sounds exactly like a good Fairbanks or thereabouts bar at 3am. |

Pretty much my favorite split so far this year. Both bands share members, the Impulse CV side is their Coldstart EP finally pressed. Chula Vista throwback hardcore.
