We went through this a few years ago with our dog...sucks so much, but held off as long as possible. There is never a good time, it becomes about how much you want your pet to suffer. Our thoughts are with you my friend.

There's a ****ing cure for cancer they just make millions and millions on the medical treatments they don't want to come out and say there's an actual cure.

My german shepherd is only three years old and has some form of doggy Chrohn's Disease. Big dog breeds usually don't live that long to begin with, and now he's going to have an extra shortened lifespan. He's doing just fine with prednisone treatments as necessary and not really in any pain at all, but the time when I'm going to have to take him in is much shorter than I'd like it to be.
Very sorry to hear about your friend, OTW. |

Sorry to hear that. Sucks, I know. Both of my Aussies have cancer. So far they have been doing fairly well. Appetites come and go and one of them will whimper out of the blue now and then. I think the one that whimpers will go first and the other will follow pretty quick. They are litter mates and like two peas in a pod.

So sorry to hear it, losing pets is rough. My 7-year-old yellow lab had to be put down when I was 12, and I was devastated. On the bright side, all dogs go to heaven.

That sucks. It's too bad that cancer isn't a person you can tie up in the cellar of a remote building and slowly torture to death over the course of several weeks.

I had to put down my 1 1/2 year old dog because of cancer. She started limping and we were treating her for what they thought the limp was (nothing serious). Then a few weeks later she started coughing. They did x-rays and she had bone cancer in the shoulder that had metastasized to her lung.
The doctor said she was probably in pain and would get worse quickly. We had them wake her up from the x-ray so we could say good-bye. We said our good-byes in the room and then I spent the next few hours sobbing like a baby in the parking lot in my car.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Just told the wife, and she's a wreck.
Figure we'll just continue loving and spoiling the hell out of her for whatever time we have left. |
