Have to remember we were up by 2 scores and were driving killing clock and likely would have scored again. If it wasn’t for The stupid run call 5 yards deep in our own end zone that resulted in a safety and Conley’s fumble we likely would have won by 3 tds.

Defense did enough, they can be better a lot better but would have looked different if the offense didn’t give the ball back to a HOF QB and their high powered offense 2 times.

I haven't read this thread, but I just want to point out how nice it is to see a busy thread on the front page and knowing with full confidence that it didn't somehow morph into an Alex Smith thread.

Good stuff, people. Good stuff.

So freaking funny.

Andy is an offensive genius and saved the franchise.

During the Alex years, the offense finished 6th, 16th, 9th, 13th and 6th in points and 21st, 25th, 27th, 20th, and and 5th in yards.

At that same time, the defense was finishing 5th, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 15th in points and 24th, 7th, 7th, 24th, and 28th in yards.

The "respectability" that Andy brought back to this franchise was almost WHOLLY due to an ultra-conservative offense that never turned the ball over and a REALLY good defense.

It's like people don't even watch the games.

Yes. Sutton deserves tons of credit for coasting off the high end talent left for him by the previous regimes. Poe, Houston, Johnson, Hali, and Berry were sitting there waiting for him. Once they were gone or ineffective it's all gone to shit. He's actually developed 2 high end starters in 5 years. Peters and Jones. Great job letting the entire unit stagnate under your watch, you worthless ****.

Here's the problem with the whole "coasting on the coattails" idea...

Romeo Crennel coached the same guys before Sutton and Crennel is one of those guys everybody thinks he's a genius.

Yet somehow, with the same core of guys, his defense finished 25th in points and 20th in yards.

Are you saying Mahomes is running a different offense?

I'm glad we've handled this cautiously. Most of Berrys injuries have occurred in the first game of the season. For whatever reason he never seems to get his Acl into football shape fast enough. I wouldn't be opposed to even limiting his snaps until we're totally positive he can play a full game.

I definitely think the playbook has more of a vertical philosophy in the passing game. Routes that they wouldn't even think about doing w/ Smith. Mahomes throwing ability opens up the playbook.

Nope. The offense, just like the defense, is completely dictated by the execution of the players. Andy designs the offense, the QB runs it.

The difference in the offense is the difference between Smith and Mahomes. Let's not forget Andy Reid HAND PICKED Alex Smith.

Bob Sutton doesn't draft anybody. If you're mad about the defense stagnating, look in the office down the hall from Sutton. That guy is the one making the picks.

No. Sutton is just the one responsible for developing the talent and getting them ready for game day. He's done a marvelous job of that.
