2014-2015 NHL Offseason/Regular Season Thread
Free Agency starts today. I'm probably the worst candidate to keep up an OP with player movement and the like, but figured it would be cool to have a repository for all things NHL leading up to next season.

Anaheim acquires Kesler from Canucks for Bonino, Sbisa, and picks.

-Dallas acquires Spezza from Montreal for Chiasson, others, and a 2nd round pick.
-Avs acquire Briere for Parenteau and a late pick.
-Predators acquire James Neal for Spaling and Hornqvist.
-Marian Gaborik re-signs with Kings.
-Ryan Miller to Canucks via UFA.
-Paul Stastny to the Blues via UFA.
-Jarome Iginla to the Avs via UFA.
-Dan Boyle to the NYR.
-Brad Richards to the Blackhawks.
-Vanek to the Minnesota Wild.
-Robidas to the Maple Leafs.
-Niskanen to the Caps via UFA.

Feel free to add other moves and I'll do my best to update.

Pretty crazy last 30 seconds in Chicago last night. The video doesn't include a Crawford save seconds before... I have a hard time believing the puck wasn't all the way across the line, even though I understand why they didn't call it that way.

What a pileup in the West:

The way I see it, only two teams (Arizona and Edmonton) are really out of contention.

The Kings would not make the playoffs if the season ended today, but are only 4 points out of 2nd place and home ice in the first round of the playoffs.

The East is a little clearer, at least in terms of the top teams, but it could get fun for that last spot.

Barring miracle turnarounds (like Minnesota's trajectory in the past couple weeks, the Avs (and to some extent Stars) are pretty much out of it at this point as well. I think it's gonna be all-out war between the Stars, Wild, and Flames for the #8 spot.

It is hard to jump hat many teams, but the Avs are at least close enough to do it.

The Flames are fun to watch. They would not be fun to play in the playoffs.

I expect the Kings to continue their run, but they've really had a title hangover this year. Hopefully they're making their move right now.

The Stars seem to no show during big games, hate they got pounded by the Wild the other night. I would love nothing more than to see the stupid ass Wild get left out of the playoffs altogether.

Yeah, hopefully the Sharks or Flames can get it done... the Avalanche are just terrible all around this year. MacKinnon had a hat trick the other night just to get above 10 goals... Iginla and Tanguay are their leading scorers.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think Calgary takes a step back during this current road trip. They were able to survive a long loosing streak from earlier in the season but it may be too late to get through another.
