I was at the game last night, sitting three seats down from the TV Guys. This team has sooooo many problems: They have no shooters. Noboby. Nobody who can get hot and score six or eight points to keep you in a game. They have no height to go low. Rosberg is the tallest guy on the team, and he only played nine minutes because he sucks so hard...and he's the only SENIOR they have. Rosberg actually had a decent game for the time he was in. He had a couple rebounds, hit all his free throws and didn't commit a single foul, which was rare for him. "Terrence & Phillip" our point guard is five foot nuthin and can't his his ass with either hand. He also can't get assists, cutters are always missed, or the entry passing is off target. Puryear was awful last night. All the Freshmen look afraid to shoot. At halftime they had a contest where they brought a kid from the crowd out to shoot three pointers for a prize. He hit one of two (50%). The Mizzou Men's Basketball Team for the game went 2 for 25 (8%) from three point line. I'd be willing to bet you that most junior high girls teams shoot better than 8% from the three point line. They announced the crowd at 7100 but it looked much emptier than that. And there weren't many students there at all. Can't blame them. Why waste a Saturday night in Columbia during the school year watching that shit? They're in sole possession of the cellar in the SEC. They lost to the next to the worst team (Miss St) at home by 16, and Arkansas, the next to the next worst team beat them at home by 20. This program is a total and complete dumpster fire. Makes me sad to be a Tiger.

....man the MU bball program is terrible. I think this is the start of a collective downfall of MU sports. When the program is as bad as it is...it almost takes the fun out of trashing them.
Because 100% of MU fans will look at you in the eye and tell you, "I know". Can't tell you how many MU fans i know that have completely disregarded the basketball team and don't show it any support whatsoever, don't follow who they're playing, don't know the roster, many of them have just said **** it and they wait til Cards or Royals ST. I hope sometime, sooner than later, that MU and KU will meet up in the Big12/SEC challenge. They have to make that rivalry for the people in KC. You don't really hear of MU basketball anymore in the area, their level of suck has a lot to do w/ that but so does the fact that people around here, esp when it comes to basketball, have never paid any attention to the SEC conference. It's always been Big 8/Big12 (as long as I've been old enough to play/follow sports). Football is a little different because of the amount of success SEC teams have had in recent yrs winning NC's - your Florida's, Alabama's, Auburn's, LSU's etc, plus they're always on TV nationally, and football is a more popular sport with a much larger following. The college sports scene has died since MU left the conference. They need to revive the rivalry here in KC at the Sprint Center, or rotate from home venue to home venue. The fans want it. State of MO/KS residents pay taxes to help fund these universities. Makes too much sense to revive it. And if it is Bill Self that's preventing all of this from ever happening, then he ought to be ashamed of himself for dicking over the people of the KC area. No it doesn't help KU at all by playing MU in a non conf game but neither does playing KY. Obviously there's gonna be a more national viewership from a KU/KY game but they need to make this happen. Have KU/KY play eachother in that Champions Classic they hold every season. MU sold out their athletics dept to the damn devil, and I do believe in karma, and I think some karma, in more ways than just 1, is being dished out to the Univ of Missouri right now and has been throughout this past year. Again I think we're all witnessing the aftermath, downfall of MU athletics. Kim Anderson needs to go. When it gets to the point where there is little to no improvement, no morale (I mean this team goes out there every game and expects to lose - you can see it in the way they play and respond to their coach). They don't buy in what KA wants to do. And I'm not even saying KA is a bad coach, but I don't think this gig, as much as he wanted it, is for him. He needs to go back to D2, that's where he belongs. The right hire would have been Ben Howland or Greg Marshall, I've said that from day 1. Once again the MU brass makes a horrible coaching hire over what was available. Still haven't recovered from the Snyder over Self coaching hire. KA's hire was a giant "haha/**** you i told you so" from Mike Alden. Say what you want about Pinkel, but losing him hurts MU bad, the timing was awful. FWIW - I think Pinkel could detect the sinking ship with the University and Black Lives Matter and all of the bullshit that came w/ that. He had an out because of his illness so he took the exit, used his illness as a fallback - I truly believe that...he didn't want to have to deal w/ that shit. He was the program's best coach of all time and was able to make a nationally recognized competitive program that was consistently in the top 25 and on many occasions in the top 10 and almost brought the school a national championship game on 2 different occasions. WTF is Barry Odom gonna do? He has some large shoes to fill.

Mizzou up one over a depleted Ole Miss with 19 seconds left. Ole Miss has the ball.

Moody was fouled on a drive by Phillips, hit both FTs. Clark took an off-balance fadeaway and missed. Rebound by Ole Miss. Newby fouled, hits the first FT, and Mizzou calls their last TO down two with 3.3 seconds left.
Newby hit the second. In bounds to Clark who tossed it to Van Leer, who didn't get it up in time and bricked it off the side of the rim. Seven straight conference losses for Missouri, 8-14 and 1-8 in SEC play. |
