Apple tech tip here....

Apple had a known issue with iPhone batteries in all of their recent models. If you own an iPhone 6 or later, you are automatically entitled to a battery replacement in your iPhone for $29. If your iPhone is less than a year old, or you purchased Applecare+, then this will be free. This only lasts till the end of December!

This is a very good deal to replace your iPhone battery and extend the life of your iPhone by years. It's available whether your battery is showing dramatic issues or not. You will be able to replace your battery for $29 regardless. Your battery life will function like brand new. What you need to do is go to the following Apple support page, and click on Start a Battery Replacement. There it will give you options to schedule an appointment at an available Apple repair entity near you to replace it. Places like Best Buy included, not just Apple stores.

I'm guessing Apple is saying the opposite. Fish seems to be saying it would be smart for everyone who can replace their battery so that your device will have a longer shelf life.

I know for me, battery issues always come on quick. I'd jump on an opportunity to get a new battery for that price.

Not necessarily, they aren't saying anything that blatant. But trust me they will replace it regardless of whether it's showing symptoms.

It needs it. If not now, it eventually will. After so many charging cycles or some such criteria, your phone is going to slow itself down. You get a reset on your battery life with this program.

I had mine replaced a few months ago. They ended up cracking my screen so they replaced my 6 Plus with a new/refurbished? 6S Plus and waived the $29 charge. The response snappiness was substantial for me. If your battery is still in it's prime, the difference might not be as noticeable for you at this point, but you'll at least be delaying the inevitable.

No, but you need to schedule the work and probably have to wait a few weeks for a replacement battery to be shipped. I had to leave mine at the Apple Store for a few hours for the work to be done.

If you don’t live near an Apple Store, maybe there’s a send in option.

Holy shit. We can replace your defective battery that is a known issue .... not for free, that'll be 30 bucks. Oh and we need you to schedule the work done so we can ship a battery and that will take a few weeks and it will take a few hours to install it.

Or you can just go to Interstate Battery and buy a battery and have them put it in while you stand there because it only takes a few minutes. Might cost 40 bucks, though.
