Id also like to point that DT had elite level production in college that Von NEVER did.

Derrick Thomasa had 27 sacks in one year at Alabama and had a career total at Alabama of 52 sacks.

Von Miller had 33 total sacks (still good, but not great) and his best year had 17 sacks (again good but not great...some player every year has 17 sacks...27 still stands as the record)

Good Gawd. I forgot all about DT having 27 FN sacks in one season. Unbelievable. I still say that when he was on, nobody got after the QB better.

That is amazing.

I doubt he could have done it nowadays in college though.

Did you ever see him play?

Seriously

You can't be more that 22 or so, I doubt you have seen him play in his prime.

He was totally unbelievable in college and his first couple years.

Many people forget that he had 20 sacks in his second year in the NFL before we changed to a 4-3 the following year.

If that change was never made, I bet he would be the all time sack leader.

Dude was simply amazing when the situation dictated him to pin his ears back and go get em.

I'm 24 and the only time I really saw him play when I was growing up was when the Chiefs would play Denver. Back then I definitely knew who he was and knew he was a good player.

If you saw both he and Von (who I do like) play, you wouldn't take the comparisons seriously at all.

DT was a generational talent similar to Peyton for quarterbacks... or Suh for DL...

Talents like Von Miller are available every year or two.

Here's some more food for thought, where is the kid gonna play?

Dumervil is the RDE...no question. That leaves your 4-3 with a huge hold for a LDE that can help stop the run and provide a passrush....Von is gonna get run right the **** over by linemen almost a hundred pounds heavier than him and more talented than the guys he faced at AnM.

If you guys were staying as a 3-4, I'd be genuinely concerned but adding him (instead of a far better prospect IMO in Dareus, who I think is the prize DL of this class) to a average at best 40 front line isn't scary at all.

You know what would have me very concerned? Dumervil and Dareus on the same line.

#32 rush defense

Count it

Honestly, I think it was a dumb pick unless they think Dumervil is done and his specific position needs replaced.

I'm not the one who started that comparison. His coaches at Texas A&M, scouts, and Broncos front office guys did.

Brian Xanders said that Von Miller was the best pass rushing prospect to come out of college in the past 15 years. John Fox and Elway said that he is a once in a decade type talent.

Elvis Dumervil and Robert Ayers (Ayers is phenomenal against the run btw) will be our starting DE's, Kevin Vickerson and whatever DT we sign in FA will be our DT's, DJ Williams will be playing WILL, Joe Mays/Nate Irving will be playing MIKE, and Von Miller will be playing SAM.

On passing downs Von Miller will be playing DE and Ayers will kick inside. And Dennis Allen is a Greg Williams protege who believes in an insanely aggressive blitz happy defense. They can move Von Miller all over the place and he could be blitzing from anywhere.

I almost spit out my drink when I read that post.

Ayers a "phenominal" run defender?

Holy Mother Of God.

Good offensive lines are gonna wreck that front seven in the run game and if you can't stop the run, who cares if you can rush the passer?

Greatest fan made highlight I've seen. Sound was perfect. I would recommend if you do another jamaal Charles highlight you consider using the track from gone in 60 seconds, flower by moby. Not a fan of the artist but that song fits him.
