MMQB: Dorsey, Browns rumored to be drafting Josh Allen at #1

From https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/04/01/jo...mqb-peter-king :

Quote:
FOD (Friend of Dorsey) thinks Browns will go Allen-Saquon at 1 and 4. What would an April MMQB be without another draft rumor?! This friend of Cleveland GM John Dorsey believes he’ll go Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen over Sam Darnold with the first overall pick, keep the fourth pick, and take Penn State running back Saquon Barkley. “I would be surprised if he traded down,” FOD told me. “This would be his chance to take his two offensive cornerstones for the next eight or 10 years.” The most interesting thing there? That FOD thinks Dorsey will not trade. I think that’s great. Cleveland’s been very good at trading and stockpiling, and not very good at drafting, in the last few years. I hope Dorsey’s more about the (relatively) sure things instead of Cleveland leading the league in draft picks.
For what it’s worth...

The Browns put themselves in this situation though. They HAVE to take a QB at #1 now.

Looks like it, but some might depend on how much power Dorsey has. I could see him not caring what the fans and media think and him doing his own thing. Now the owner may well demand a QB be taken.

He would have to trade down if he does not take a QB. Doubt he goes RB. So who gives him a high pick (going to want to stay in the top 10) and their next 2 ones to move up? Denver, Jets?

Rosen is a smug little prick who is made of glass
Allen is the only QB with a ceiling that could somewhat compare to Mahomes, but still not as high. The guys floor is way low

Truth be told, I like the Lauletta kid just as much as any of these guys, especially if you can get him late rd 1 or rd 2
I just don't care too much about Mayfields supposed attitude. I mean, I want my quarterback to be arrogant. He's also the most accurate and best decision maker, which again, is something I want my QB to be.

Rosen asks questions. I don't know if that necessarily makes him smug, but he's just one that wants to know why he's being asked to do something.

Again, I don't really care if my qb is arrogant. Look at Rogers and Brady.

Yeah I don’t understand why it’s a negative that your QB is arrogant.

Darnold is going #1.

I’d bet it all on that.

The owner sat with the kids parents at his pro day...

I didnt watch the Seattle game, but from what I saw teams never adjusted against the Texans offense and that allowed Watson to consistently scramble out and get all those big plays down the field against 1 on 1 coverage. Alex had a lot of success doing that early in the season too, until teams adjusted. It remains to be seen how Watson fares after teams have an offseason to prepare for him. I do like him as a prospect though.

On Baker’s douchey show, his parents were worried about him staying in LA after the bowl loss to Georgia. But then again he got tackled by police for being a dumbass.

Don’t trust the dude.

Me too.

He’s the one with the least serious concerns.

If the Browns really do want Josh Allen they should draft Barkley at #1 and wait for Allen to fall to them at #4. Giants will be pissed.

That would be really smart. Early on Dorsey needs to find out who he can trust and who he can't.

Not sure Dorsey wants Barkley. Would guess he has Chubb higher. Dorsey seems to be the type that spends his 1st rounders on QB, Left Tackles, CB and DL. Given the number of 2nd rounders and the # of quality Rb/s bet he waits on RB.

Brady's arrogance came AFTER he earned it on the field, IIRC.
