ChiefsPlanet Minor change in philosophy - Page 4

Back when I joined ChiefsPlanet, new users could pretty much register, confirm their email address, and immediately start posting. That meant that we often got a lot of n00bs during game weeks from opposing fans, for example, because they wanted to jump in and talk about the game.

At some point maybe 3-5 years ago, a change was made in an attempt to keep out recently-banned users and porn spammers that required every new user to be manually approved by a mod before they'd be allowed to post. In concept, this makes a lot of sense. In reality, though, it resulted in large delays between registration and being able to post that ranged from a few hours to more than a week (depending on how often the mods checked the queue and went through everyone).

As an experiment, starting today we're going back to the old approach. It may not last, but we want to see if we see an uptick in n00b participation. Hopefully it's a change for the better, but we'll see.

Related to that, though, the mods won't be able to keep the "bad guys" from getting into the Planet in the first place, so please use the report function to report anything we should take a close look at. In addition, if you have infraction powers and someone starts spamming porn all over the place, feel free to infract the hell out of them until the mods can get in and take care of it.

No promises it'll stay this way, but we figured we'd give it a try.

Also don't come around nearly every damn GDT for six months just to get booted the night before game 1 of the WS again!!! We had a fallen comrade that season for sure. It was fun talking baseball with you.

When LoCain hit that double I cried like a little girl. Oh my ... I will never enjoy a team in my life more than the 2015 Kansas City Royals. It totally put everything sports related in my life into perspective. When I left the Chiefs/Colts game in 2014 I went home and threw everything I owned Chiefs related away. Gave away my #29 to a Chiefs fan at Lucas Oil. Just crushing - and I acted like I just lost a parent.

I was at the Chiefs/Steelers game ... drove threw an "ice storm" (never really happened) 6 hours to get there ... never got mad once (other than at Travis Kelce for being a ****ing idiot). The 2015 Royals made me a happy sports fan again ... and for that, I'll forever be thankful.

As for getting booted the day before ... totally my fault. I shouldn't have broken all of those rules. Criminal fraud, theft, attacking members ... just disgraceful. My days of stealing money from ChiefsPlanet members is over, now, though. I do have this upcoming charity event supporting the lost children of the New Hampshire rabbit attacks and if you PayPal me $20 you're basically saving a child's life.

The most difficult part for me is that I still catch myself forgetting that he's truly gone. He was such a vital piece of this organization during our renaissance, he may have been a dickhead on the field, but damn it, he was our dickhead, and the Chiefs have badly needed one of those for a long time. Hearing the stories about how he wasn't a dickhead off the field and was gracious to the world around him made his death that much harder to swallow.

He was the most unpredictable and electric players I have ever got to watch on the diamond, and I will always be thankful that I had the opportunity to watch him.

We'll always have Game 6 of 2014 WS ... I was as hard on Ace as anyone but I loved the guy. Truly think he was our next bullpen cyborg. Hopefully Glass and the Royals make sure his family get the majority of that contract.

To me he was every bit as vital in the 2015 ALCS. I think his starts are often forgotten because he didn't have a decision in either (the electric endings to both tend to stand out more). But he outpitched Price in both starts, found filthy strikeouts when he needed them, and was electric against an offensive juggernaut. If he's rushed for 3 runs to start Game 6, we likely don't go all the way.

Out of the three major disagreements we've had (Ventura's trajectory, Herrera's potential as a reliever (during 2014), and our predictions of the 2015 team), it feels right that we can both sit back and appreciate everything Ventura did for the Royals, for the city, and for his community back home. Miss you, ace!

How about you never bring up FanDuel in the lounge if you're allowed to make a full FanDuel crash course/history thread in the Romper Room? If anyone then brings it up in the lounge, you can reply by simply posting the link in the thread and be done with it.
