SI : Chiefs have a problem and his name is Dwayne Bowe

His performance so far this season has been underwhelming. He is in a position to clock in his worst performance in the NFL so far and is projecting to have 54 receptions for 586 yards w/6TD.

Is his problem that defenses are keying in on him... or is it that, as suggested by Greg Bedard, that Bowe has lost a step and is no longer a top tier WR?

http://mmqb.si.com/2013/10/11/greg-b...preview-notes/

6. The Chiefs will win a lot of games with their current formula: good defense that takes the ball away (15 times so far) and an offense that doesn’t turn it over (just five) for an NFL-leading plus-10 in giveaways/takeaways. But to beat the good teams, they’re going to have to start stretching the field. Defenses know QB Alex Smith is overly conservative, so they’re dropping a safety down and playing a lot of man. The Chiefs have a big problem with receiver Dwayne Bowe. Not sure what has happened to him, but he lacks explosion and can’t beat man coverage anymore. Defenses don’t fear him at all.

A. Read the post again. No, I didn't blame Alex Smith. And no, I hardly ever blame him for shit that goes wrong with the offense. If you've been paying attention, I've been jumping down the throats of the offensive line and Andy Reid 90% of the time when our offense isn't working.

B. Alex Smith DOES have his faults as a QB. You know this, right? He's not a perfect player, and as a guy who touches the ball on every offensive snap, those imperfections are going to get analyzed and discussed. Far more than ANY other player's on the team. It comes with the territory because guess what? He's the goddamn QB. Your overly sensitive responses to anybody who has a criticism of Alex Smith is going to keep you busy, my friend. Because it doesn't get any better from here. That's the life of a QB. Deal with it.

I have never said he doesn't have faults. He does. But he isn't as bad as the Geno lovers claim he is. There are a lot of sour grapes because the Chiefs didn't take a QB at 1.1.

QB is part of it.

I have asked this 5 times.

How did the blame estimates back in 2010 2011 work out for Alex Smith 'appologists'?

Smith wasn't great and his weaknesses are easier to see. The camera and talk is always focused on the QB.

But the O-Line was bad, the receivers were bad.

If the O-Line could at least get up to avg
If the WR could at least get up to avg

Those improvements happened.
Smith's play elevated along with the parts around him.

He is not a franchise level QB to carry the burden on offense.

Again. Not Breaking News.

Clearly the talent level is much higher on the D

What QB could run this offense better with the talent we have ?

We need help at TE OL WR is there any PB players on this offense besides JC ?

Last year we gave up a average of 26.5 total points a game and score 13.1 points per game.

This year we are giving up average of 11.6 points a game and score 25.6 points a game.

IF we maintain an average of 25 points scored each game wherever they come from we win a lot of games.

I could care less who the QB is just give me an average of 25 team points a game with this D!!!!!!!!

This. All that matters is that we end up with more points than our opponent. It doesn't matter whether those points are scored by the O, the D, ST or some combination of the three, the points still count the same.

If Bowe keeps his foot in bounds and reaches a teeny bit farther to cross the goal line (forgive me if those were on the same drive) are we even having this thread?

Why are we even bothering to continue to talk about Geno Smith, that ****ing ship has sailed.

Are there not supposed to be at least a handful of QBs, depending on who all declares of the underclassmen, considered better than him? As in people will actually take them in round 1.

Don't give some nonsense, " See, I told you so", based upon a sliver of positive play, because the same shit went down when Sanchez and Freeman had a blip of good play, and then that house of cards toppled upon itself.

Hell, If Bray develops into a Franchise QB he'll be the best player out of this years QB class and maybe next years also.

I did when they took Eric Fisher. That's still not going to stop me from shitting on Fisher or Alex when either of them screw up, though.

Thanks for shutting the **** up. Looking forward to it.
