Basic column where Philip Rivers says he expects to play out contract & Tom Telesco declines to say he won't trade QB http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2015/...chargers-acee/

Subbing Rivers for Alex makes puts the Chiefs in the top 5 favorites to win the SB and likely their best chance since Montana.

That's a pretty damn strong case to make.

Just to name a few.

If he had the backing of an ownership group and front office that want to win, Rivers would have been a HOF QB.
Pretty much this. Dean Spanos is every bit as bad of an owner as the likes of Dan Snyder, Mike Brown, Jed York, and Stephen Ross, but he gets a huge pass because he's less flamboyant about his suckitude and owns a small-market team. If we actually try to build around a scrub like Mariota, it just cements the fact that the Chargers will never win a damn thing as long as a Spanos owns the team.

However, Rivers has screwed himself at times as well. For instance, lobbying to save Norv's job at the last minute at least once.

It's like some people have never seen Philip Rivers actually play, other than against the Chiefs.

They look at numbers and say "Wow, he's great!".

If Rivers wants out, which it sure sounds like he does, we have no choice but to trade him while he still has value.

Marty's brainfart was worse than McCree's. The fumble was bad, but it didn't cost us a crucial timeout like Marty's reeruned challenge did.

Replace Rivers with Alice Smiff and, while we might still have made the playoffs in 2006, that would be our last playoff appearance.

Theres cool people and dick heads and everything in between...

One of the best NFL experiences I ever had was at an Oakland-KC game in oakland where it was pouring down rain and I smuggled a humongous bottle of cranberry juice spiked with vodka into the stands...

I stood up and offered the 'red chiefs juice' to those around me and pretty soon my whole section was drunk as **** and asking me if I would PLEASE come back next year and get the same tickets (from a buddy who is an OAK fan and has season tix).

I was chanting "TAINTED BY RED" and passing the jug around...

We ****ing stomped their ass that day and there were puddles on the field and standing water...I was literally soaked to the BONE and drenched

even ,my socks were soaked wet

TAINTED BY RED , MOTHER****ERS!!!!!
