As seeing how this trip is over a year away, potentially. As far as what days we're there we are both completely flexible. I went to Vegas last September. Stayed at Mandalay Bay for free. I don't need that this time -- nothing AS nice. Just been thinking about Vegas the past 3-4 months. It's all I can think about and last time I was there I really didn't do a whole lot because my friends were there for a work convention. |

If you are looking to stay downtown, Priceline is the way to go. The Golden Nugget is the only 4-star property there, so if your bid is accepted, then you are getting the GN. Like I said, I got 3 nights at $65 per night. So $195 total pre tax/fees where it would normally cost $277.

I did have to chuckle a bit, probably 75% of the times I've gone to Vegas it was planned that same day or the night before.

This trip is going to be sweet.
One month and five days! My girlfriend found a coupon on Groupon where we get an all-you can eat lunch buffet @ Flavors in Harrah's for $31.98, it also includes all you can drink beer and wine. Friday might be a pretty miserable day. 4 couples including Mr. and Mrs. Plow -- glad they're joining us. Does anyone recommend any budget friendly shows? |

I hear you there. When we go to Vegas we drive even though flights from here (Phoenix) are dirt cheap. About a 4.5 hour drive, cool to drive over the dam, much more relaxing than the airport.

If I lived that close, I'd be driving too.

given your schedule, I would work on getting credit card sign up bonuses, if that's an option. Southwest has a card right now that gives you 2 free tickets for signing up. AA always has good offers. Figure out what hotel you'd like to stay at and get a card giving points. There's a couple of great Hilton cards these days.

Oh, since you have a lot of time to plan, go to every casino's web site and sign up with your email address. I get stuff from them all the time with specials.

Do the hotwire.com deal where they don't reveal the hotel name so you get the room basically half off. And there is no worries about getting a dump because you filter it by star rating and they also show you on the map the area you will be staying. So say you choose that option and want a 3 star room. You choose your area and are guaranteed a room with that star rating within that area of the map. Then you just look at all the hotels like regular within that area so you know what to expect.
I did it a while back here in KC on a "staycation" we wanted a 4-star room. We had different options such as Kansas City-Plaza area or Kansas City-downtown/Crown Center area. We chose downtown which has four or five 4 star hotels. Ended up getting the Sheraton at Crown center for about $90 per night instead of the normal rate of almost $200. |

If you like to gamble take the gf to Harrah's NKC and each of you get player's cards and every single time you gamble use your cards.Harrah's comp programs are second to none, hell by next Spring/Summer you could easily have 3-4 comp nights coming in Vegas not to mention reward's credits for food and the like.

yes, it's either the Strip or Downtown.
You can also stay at the Rio, they have shuttles to Harrahs like every half hour.
