this type of shit has gotta be why EA held off on releasing game play longer than usual. they know it's the same game by in large, but were hoping the smoke and mirros of "target passing" and "Longshot" would distract people from the fact that it's going to be the same.
Reading the comments in the video.....everyone is stating that he was playing on Arcade mode which makes more sense. It's still stupid for Arcade mode though.

I've been playing the last two days via EA access. I like the 'simulation' game mode setting so far.

No. I wish I had EA Access but it it's XBox only.

Next weekend I'm not going out with any girls, though.

I'm not sure what to make of that Longshot gameplay. I watched it last night, and it looks like the remaining gameplay has been posted on youtube. but I don't want too much of a spoiler.

at first glance, it looks pretty....boring. I dunno. I mean, I like the concept, but just sitting there and occasionally pushing a button or making a 50/50 decision on something doesn't seem very innnovative or fun. I haven't played many of those types of games, but my wife and I like to play games together on occasion so we bought a used copy of The Walking Dead.....my god, it was boring. didn't even play it more than maybe 2 hours and we turned if off. This Longshot Mode reminds me a lot of that.

Just seems like a lot of effort was made by EA for this mode, and it really isn't all that fun to play. Maybe it gets better beyond the game play that I watched last night, but man....from what I watched, it just felt boring as hell.

The bummer is, they spent all this time on this mode, when that time could've (and probably should've) been used to improve several other areas of the game.

I'll reserve judgement until I buy it and actually play it, but first reaction seems like EA gonna EA.

Longshot is dumb. The gameplay is much more refined and fluid since moving to the frostbit engine. Zones have been fixed somewhat, and run blocking AI (the oline in general) is much better. Gameplay is much better than M17 and a step in the right direction.

I'm hoping the run blocking is way better. tired of getting blown up in the back field when I get the hand off or at the mesh point on stretch plays. I mean, I get it - I'm not expecting to rattle off a 6ypc etc, but when Jamaal goes 25 carries for like 30 yds...yeah.

I also hope they improve the AI in general. I play alot of different offline franchises at various positions. It's infuriating to play as a QB, and have your RB just have no awareness. that's where I'm coming from with 25 carries for 30 yds comment earlier. And it's not just "one bad game scenario. It's like that in virtually every game.

I enjoy playing as a single player, but it's gotten to be pretty frustrating. Maybe I should just switch and play as a coach (or whatever mode where you control the ball carrier at any given time). I like to play realistically; have a good run / pass balance, and not put up obscene yards with the exception of a few occasions etc. But playing as a QB, it's basically pointless to call a run play. Even when the defense is in a piss poor run Defense like Dime or Quarter, Jamaal would get smoked in the backfield time and time again. Play action?......even more pointless. I could run 40 times in a row, and the defense would never bite on a PA Pass.

there's lots of stuff I hope they improve on, and I hope they do.

serious question. watching some online views of the new game, and it dawned on me. they use real life footage in game, including ****ing commercials, but...

aside from the playing field, why dont' they use actual HD in game video of the stadium and fans in game mode?

Because it's a 3D environment. That would be impossible to do.

I'll be picking it up when it comes out, but their player ratings for most Chiefs never fail to make me shake my head

Thats why I usually play in exhibition mode, so I can adjust them
