Word is the father said "See you later, alligator".
Not clear if anyone followed with "In a while, crocodile". |

Yeah, I didn't realize it was around 9pm.
The light would be bad enough that you'd lose sight of the gator in short order. Very little the guy could've done. To whatever extent there can be good news, sounds like the toddler just drowned. Unless he's been to swim lessons and has been taught to blow bubbles underwater, the 'hold your breath' instinct just isn't there. He probably got pulled in, took a big gulp and within seconds the lights went out. There's not much of a silver lining to find when a toddler dies, but that's as close as I can come up with.

The news said now the police had killed five alligators in the area. Why there is no outrage for the killings?

Because there are plenty of Gators in the area, they taste like chicken and they make great boots.

I lived in South Georgia for several years. I had no problem swimming with the Gators. A simple tap on the nose runs them off .

Keep in mind that you likely have supernaturally strong wrists and hands.

Well, Disney better erect signs that say: Watch for Alligators or Beware of Alligators.

I assume a Alligator is pretty similar to a Crock and how they go about killing then consuming their prey. The reason if its like a crock the kids body was found intact is there teeth are for clamping and holding prey. They are not good at cutting and ripping flesh so they take the prey under drown it and place it under rock submerged tree or bank outcrop. The Crock is patient and waits for the carcass to bloat and decompose making its easier to to pull meat from carcass. So once they got you in jaws they are almost like locked shut and not much can do if you get away its by sheer luck. I have watched shows of Crocks taking down a water buffalo at a watering hole. Its cat like quickness then plop buffalo gone beneath surface. The divers they showed searching for that kid were reaching and poking under along the bank I imagine that were they found the poor soul. Those divers had some brass balls as i bet that alligator is very protective of its prey. What a horrific tragedy.

I think those divers had brass balls, period. Gotta be more gators in there. What we hear around here is they are more dangerous at the edge of the water. There was a three or five year old helping his dad push up a canoe at the edge of the shore and he got his leg bit off. I saw a baby gator while walking in a marshy area with shallow pools of water by the sidewalk. Mommy had to be nearby. I headed back to my car fast without running. The guy on TV said these are rare incidents, but there's millions of them now which may now make difference in the number of incidents. |
