Why has Dave Toub not gotten an NFL Head Coach job yet?
Andy mentions in this interview that Toub had been drawing up, tweaking, and practicing the fake punt all week. And he called it up during the game.

I mean, this is just one of the DOZENS of astounding moments where we've seen his presence as a special teams coach not only affect but WIN games going back to his time with the Bears.

Yeah, he's a ST coach. But look at who else has come from a ST background in their head coach careers: Belichick, Levy, John Harbaugh...

At this point, wouldn't one think that teams would be more likely to dig into the resumes of some of these ST coaches when making hires? At the very least, why hasn't the best ST coach in the game for many years now been getting more than the one look he had last year?

Hopefully, he never gets one.

He's too damn important to the success of this organization. Sounds ridiculous, but ST have saved us so many times under his watch.

I can't think of a lot of ST coaches that have gone on to be head coaches other than the 2 you mentioned. Vermeil was one. Frank Gansz. Vermeil did pretty well. Gansz, not so much. I think the position just doesn't get the looks for head coaching opportunities that a DC or OC get. I prefer it that way. I hope Toub stays here forever.

Everyone wants the hyped young OC to take over these days. Guys like Kyle Shanahan and Josh McDaniels are in line. DCs like Teryl Austin, or whoever is in Seattle any given year.

STs gets overlooked and with Toub's age, he likely will even more so. He may not even want to be a HC either? Who knows.

At this point the only reason he would leave is to be a HC, and so I like our odds of keeping him around.

He's 54. I know teams want the young guy as HC, but he's not that much older than a lot of rookie head coaches.

Doug Pederson is 48

Bruce Arians was hired when he was at least 60

Todd Bowles is 53

Dirk Koetter is 57

Chuck Pagano was hired when he was at least 50.

There's nothing wrong with Toub's age.

A great coordinator doesn't necessarily breed great success as a head coach.

Plus, why leave a cushy gig?

Reid and Toub go back 20+ years. He has autonomy.

Reid will never fire him so why go somewhere he's more than likely to be fired?

Reid has planned ahead for the scenario that Toub did leave, though.

They've got Brock Olivo who has been the special teams assistant since 2013 and you know he's learned everything he can from Toub.
