Anybody use a room/space heater that is safe for pets?

It's cold. I have 3 pets. Every space heater I've owned burned to the touch.

Right now it's between 25 at night and 50 in the day, and inside my house its a constant 40 degrees or so. I'm San Diegan, therefore, that is immensely cold.

Anyone have a safe for pet space heater that you recommend?

Thanks.

Do you crate her when you're gone?

You said you had a old drafty apt. I wouldn't plan on it holding in heat for a good amount of time.

I did when she was smaller. She is pretty much completely crate trained. I leave the door open now because she is about 3/4 the length of the crate now so it would be too cramped if I left her in there. When I get home from work she is usually in her crate. I guess I also need to get a bigger crate.

I never said it was drafty. It's cold. I know it's not gonna stay super warm, but it will be warmer.

Yeah if that's the case and you yourself can tolerate the temp, I would still consider a heated pet mat for the crate. Throw a blanket on the pet mat and the dog will stay warm.

What does the room temp get down to now without a heater? You live in San Diego for Christ's sake. This can't be a long term problem.

I will get her that stuff. I would still prefer it to be warmer though. I was looking at some of those vornados. Looks like I might pick one up. The one I think I'm going to get has a 450W setting.

Then you just need a blanket and crate. Even on the lowest setting a space heater will use 750w. 1500w for high settings. Being it is California, I doubt your KW per hr is very cheap. Running a space heater for 8 hrs a day on low could cost you more than you think it would.

Well the whole reason I started the thread was to find a heater that was safe for pets. The reason I want it is because I'm ****ing cold.

Moms and Pops have a Vornado that stays on a carpeted floor, and neither their dumpy Corgi or my sis' blind Rat Terrier pay it any mind.

If I had to guess, the light breeze from the fan deters them from getting too close.

Pretty benign

Have you thought of moving away from San Diego? You can get a nice apartment in KC for $800... with heat!
