How good could Chris Jones be as a rookie?

In case you missed it, Chris Jones was beasting again yesterday.

PFF seems to agree. He was our highest rated player overall for the preseason going into the game yesterday.
Rookie DE Chris Jones looking like a second-round steal

Quote:
Chris Jones was one of the highest-graded interior defenders in the nation last season, and was No. 12 on PFF’s final draft board, but slid all the way to Kansas City in the second round at pick No. 37. In this game, he dominated the Bears, generating three hurries, a batted pass, and stuffing more than one play deep in the backfield. He displayed the strength and quickness combination that made multiple PFF analysts fall in love with him as a prospect, and looks like a true impact player for the Chiefs already.

It's pretty clear that Chris Jones can and will beat weaker/slower OL this year. He's proven that though 3 preseason games.

What are your thoughts on this kid? Could he provide more than his replacement, Mike DeVito, this year?
DeVito had 19 tackles, 3 stuffs and 3 sacks.

Vito was a poor man's justin smith very underappreciated by the Chiefs Kingdom. Jones looks like a stud but let's play some regular season games first before we get too hyped.

DeVito was just a JAG, who was solid as a run defender with little to no pass rush presence.

Jones combination of speed, quicks and power is going to translate to the regular season.

He's winning the battle in the trenches against starters in the preseason.

DeVito had his best pass rushing season last year. He was no slouch.
You look at weak/slow or just young OL and they can't keep up with Jones. Probably bc he's so strong but so quick as well. Jones was killing Ehinger in camp when I went to watch.

Can't wait to get Houston back. Jones,Howard, Poe and Houston together will be badass.

I look forward to pressure up the middle. Makes the job easier for the edge rushers. The guy looks like a monster out there so far. Hopefully he can do meaningful things in the regular season.

Hopefully he will be our "Aaron Donald" type of player that just absolutely dominates "everyone" and cannot be stopped. I'm not comparing their body sizes here because they are totally different stature wise but they are definitely twin brothers when it comes to playing the position with a "passionate nastiness" and dominating on almost every snap and will be literally shocked IF he is NOT starting by mid-season because he is that good.

Yeah, hopefully he can help offset the defense missing Houston early on. Someone needs to step up. It sure doesn't appear as though it will be Ford. But if Ford can just be adequate, and Jones can continue to perform like he has been in the preseason, this defense will be okay while waiting for Houston to return

He's gonna be the Marcus Peters of the DL.

DROTY with 8 or 9 sacks.

Man I hope that Houston comes back soon and that he is his dominant self as well. Rush Houston on one side, Poe pushing up the middle, and Hali and Jones on the other side. You can't stop that. Pockets will crumble and quarterbacks will go down. I'm excited!
