I dunno... It's looking kinda 'meh' maybe?
They continue to **** with the timeline which is confusing. So what I see in this trailer is this is the second time they send the same dude back to keep Sarah Connor alive? Wait, wut?
Apparently terminators age as well? Weird but whatever.

No, they bought all the rights that were scattered all over the world due to selling off pieces for revenue. Now that the rights have been consolidated, it at least has a chance to become a solid property.

Star Trek is pretty much in the same boat in the TV side, which Skydance is also trying to overcome, but they say it will be years before there's another TV series.

And neither Annapurna nor Skydance are owned by creatives. They're just very wealthy fans that are making an effort.

You can blame Star Trek solely on Abrams, not the guy who gave him the money to do it.

Star Trek wasn't screwed up. The first reboot movie was the most successful Trek movie of all time. The 2nd wasn't, and was a let down creatively, but its still watchable at least.


Now, if you want to say Trek has been 'dumbed down' for the masses, I get that.

But old Trek had become tiresome and stale. Then last Next Generation movie was a flop and interest had been dying for years. Same with the TV series.

At least Abrams reinvigorated Trek.

The first reboot is a fun film. The second was uninspired and tired but that blame lies with Abrams hiring Damon Lindleof.

With Simon Pegg's involvement with the screenplay along with Jeremy Lin's ability to reinvigorate listless franchises, I'd expect the latest movie to a very entertaining ride.

With regards to the second film, I liked the cast, the special effects and the direction but the story was just too familiar and predictable, IMO.

I won't be surprised if the new Trek movie knocks it out of the park. Simon Pegg gets it and Justin Lin is just a badass.

Like Terminator, the rights are held in different places for the TV series, so those would need to be consolidated first.
