My Irrelevant and Useless Final Mock Draft

My best shot, based on Composite Draft Boards.

1.18: Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
Not only the best available player, but a position of need, particularly with the expected suspension and ultimate departure of Sean Smith. Waynes should be a fantastic CB. My only doubt/concern is that he'll be gone when we draft.

2: Clive Walford, TE, Miami
I chose Walford over some second-tier WR prospects here. I think a dynamic two-TE set makes a lot of sense for us, and Walford fits the bill. Athletic, basketball-type player.

3. Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska
This is one of those BPA picks. It would seem that RB isn't a big deal, but Abdullah is a playmaker, and you never know with injuries and the like how he could eventually step in. His stop/start is phenomenal, he has great burst, and oh yeah, and he can catch passes, too. I think this kid is a star in the making.

3 (Comp). Rob Havenstein, OT, Wisconsin
Our run on Big Ten players continues with a player who doesn't "measure well" in terms of bench press, etc...but started three years at OL University. I like his chances of starting at RT fairly quickly.

4.Jamison Crowder, WR, Duke
Crowder seems to fit who we are and what we do with WR's...can operate all over the field, and despite his lack of size, makes a lot of his plays on short hits/bubble screens/etc.. Also, he can contribute on ST. NFL.com compared him to Eddie Royal.

5 (Comp. #1) Ibraheim Campbell, S, Northwestern
Back to the Big Ten! Campbell gives us a solid contributor in the secondary, even if EB makes it back.

5 (Comp. #2) Max Garcia, C, Florida
Garcia gives some competition to Eric Kush. In addition, he has experience at guard (where he played a whole season) and tackle.

6. Deandre Smelter, WR, Georgia Tech
Injuries have hounded Smelter, including an ACL tear that knocks him down draft boards. But the more I've read what some of you have written about the guy, the more I like what I see. He's definitely worth a late-round gamble, IMO.

6 (Comp.) Derrick Lott, DT, Tennessee-Chattanooga
Intriguing small-school guy, although he did play at Georgia before transferring. I think he could play end in our 3-4, although he could contribute inside on 4 man fronts. It's the sixth round, folks.

7.Alani Fua, OLB, BYU
Lots of size here. Gets off the snap well. He's raw in many regards, but could be coached up. And yeah, 7th round.

There are a lot of good picks here. I don't like the RB pick. I would double-dip on ILB there.

I like the picks, but I can't endorse a draft that doesn't get us over the hump at WR and doesn't even address ILBer-our two biggest needs.

I like Waynes a bit, don't see him making it to #18 though.

I like Abdullah, but I can't see him getting out of round 2.

I like Campbell, but I don't see him getting out of round 4, more or less the very end of 5.

Aside from that, alot of very meh guys for me that would neither excite me nor piss me off. The one I dislike the most is probably Crowder from Duke.

It was hard to figure out who's available where...just because it only takes one pick to throw off a chain reaction, and it just takes one GM to love one player to throw it all off.
