Like I said, new is great, even for older names. The older the product, the value tends to fall.

Used to have my office walls totally covered with auto Chiefs pictures. I doubt if my Derrick Alexander, Nick Lowry, and similar pictures are worth much.

I have a couple DT auto pictures as well, and COA for all of them, but that is not why I bought them.

That has got to be a tough way to make a buck.

It definitely can be. I've seen guys spend 40k and come up 20k short for the year.

I've seen guys spend $40 and come away making a 1k. It's a gamblers sport without a doubt.

To the OP, I can't help on the autographed memorabilia stuff, I just ain't in to that. The only auto'ed anything I own are Jarred Allen and Len Dawson cards (Now there is a guy that has autos everywhere, but that's cool ) But, heck I would think that a full authentic NFL auto'ed helmet of any player should be worth as much as the helmet at least, but looking at Rubber's link, that must not be the case

I have several items that are autographed from various sports and entertainment stars. Considering the high percentage of counterfeit memorabilia, I can only assume that at least some of them are fake, although I'm always very careful when I get something to check the signature against valid samples. But you just never know.

The ironic thing about this is the ones I got in person that I actually watched the person sign are essentially worthless since I have nothing to prove it other than my word. But I'm not looking to sell any of them, so that's okay.

Wife got me a personalized Larry Johnson signed helmet one year for Xmas. I'm guessing it's probably worth more if I find a way to remove the signature.

yeah, he signed it for me. I stopped getting autographs after that when I met players or celebrities. I just want to shake hands, enjoy the moment. That's the memory, not some sharpie sig on something.

Exactly right, stuff like that is often worth much more to the holder, than any potential buyer

If I am lucky enough to get a big money Pat Mahomes card tomorrow like I asked for, it would take an astronomical offer for me to even CONSIDER getting rid of it

Started around 81, and was hot n heavy into it up until the late 90s... still buy a few packs here and there on a whim, just for shits and grins

Rarely bought individual cards from the long since defunct card shops, my thing was buying boxes and hoping to score the good stuff on my own... bet I still have at least a few that gained value, some of the early prism cards etc

But most of my classics suffered badly... all my early 80s stuff basically became duds and it really pisses me off

What kind of big money card are you talking about? That can mean many things to many people. As well, do you want a card that can be easily graded, or fine with a thicker stock card that say may not traditionally grade well?
