United Airlines flight attendant accidentally kills passengers dog

Damn United Airlines is gonna end up getting themselves boycotted with the Asian guy they forced off, dropping the NRA, and now this. Poor puppy, I didn't post the pics for obvious reasons but having a frenchie myself they can hardly breathe as it is, what a stupid thing for the attendant to do, and why didn't anyone stop her?

http://time.com/5198423/united-airli.../?xid=homepage

"A dog traveling with its owner on a United Airlines flight from Houston to New York was found dead when the plane landed.

Passengers on the flight reported hearing the dog bark during the plane ride after a flight attendant asked its owner to put the dog, which was in a pet carrier, in an overhead storage bin typically meant for luggage, People reports.

Maggie Gremminger, who was on the flight and tweeted about witnessing the incident, told People the French bulldog’s owner, who is unnamed, initially placed the dog carrier under the seat in front of her. A flight attendant then requested the carrier be moved to the overhead bin, claiming it was blocking a portion of the aisle, according to Gremminger.

“After the flight attendant asked her to move it above, the woman adamantly refused, communicating her dog was in the bag,” she said. “There was some back and forth before finally the flight attendant convinced her to move the carrier to the bin above.”

Gremminger said she could hear the French bulldog bark from the bin for about 30 minutes during the journey and that it went quiet afterwards. Upon landing, the dog’s owner opened the bin and carrier and realized the French bulldog had died.

United Airlines confirmed the death and said it was opening an investigation “to prevent this from ever happening again.” According to the airline’s pet policy, non-service animals are allowed to travel onboard for $125, as long as they are carried in a kennel that “must fit completely under the seat in front of the customer and remain there at all times.”

“This was a tragic accident that should never have occurred, as pets should never be placed in the overhead bin,” United Airlines said in a statement. “We assume full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences to the family and are committed to supporting them.”

The dog’s death follows similar incidents for United Airlines, which had the worst rate of pet deaths in 2016, out of all U.S. airlines according to the Department of Transportation’s Air Travel Consumer Report. Last August, a King Charles Spaniel died while in the cargo hold of a United Airlines flight after a delay.

The in-flight treatment of pets in has come under scrutiny for other airlines as well. A student traveling to Florida in February claimed she was told by a gate agent to flush her pet hamster down an airport toilet (Spirit Airlines denied that it would give such instructions to a passenger).[/URL]

I was OK with it when it started with guys coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan with PTSD. But now it's apparently spread to everyone with "issues." And in so doing, opened the door for lots of people who don't have "issues" to game the system so they can take Fluffy with them wherever they go.

My wife goes back to visit her Mom and Dad in Missouri 4-5 times a year. Stays for a week or two. She always takes her 7lb dog with her. It's not a therapy dog. The dog goes in a carrier under her seat. It never barks or whine. Never had an issue with the dog, passengers or airline. Our dogs are like family to us.

Yep. It's gotten ri-god damn-diculous.

Of course German Shepherds shouldn't be up front, but dogs under 15 lbs regardless of any PTSD are allowed by many airlines. This dog was a puppy. Shouldn't be have been an issue st all.

Just ignore his bullshit he doesn't have the slightest clue man. I'd love for him to say that to an actual veteran needing one. It's a very real thing and doesn't make you a pussy or anything he's trying to imply

just pet your puppy until my words don't hurt any more....

I do understand there are people with real needs. I also understand that 9/10 of the dogs on a flight are just people working the system...same as the people using emotional support/therapy dog labels to bypass "no pet" policies in apartments. Maybe a casino with flashing lights, bells, alarms and people shouting isn't a great choice if someone is emotionally vulnerable.

Regardless, I don't want to smell your dog farting under the seat on a 3hr flight and I don't want the pet carrier on your lap spilling into my space either.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with any actual trained service dogs. It's the one who sucks the peniss that buy a "Support Animal" vest off Amazon knowing that nobody can legally question whether their yippie little asshole chihuahua is actually a trained service animal.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I might fly somewhere once every two-three years. Never seen this crazy shit. And I know of only one person who flies with a dog - my hot, but crazy, ex-sister-in-law and her ****ing rat dog chihuahua. I think the only place she doesn't take the damned thing is work, and I'm sure she would if she could. Her mom lives in Poland and shes flies there with the dog at least twice a year.

Had she loved my brother-in-law a tenth as much as she does that dog, they'd still be married.

Absolutely no concern for people with severe asthma with pet allergies on airline in confined pressurized cabins. But lil Fifi needs to go where I go.
