Geno Smith vs Alex Smith - It's on.

It's on now. Geno Smith is probably going to be starting for the Jets this season.

Alex Smith will be the Chiefs QB for the forseeable future. If he's a success, we'll probably get five good years out of him.

So who's gonna win more NFL games over that time period?

Put your ten pounders on the table and make a vote

Alex: 11 wins
Geno: 8 wins

I would of been fine with Manuel at 1.1. I thought the fact that he had gone through some tough times and still displayed some really good leadership qualities might make him a good fit in KC. I thought his athleticism would mesh nicely with Charles and Bowe as well.

http://chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthrea...ghlight=manuel

FWIW, I also thought that the Chiefs would still draft Geno at 1.1 after we traded for ASmith.

While I'm called a "truefan," I really wanted a QB in the first round.....

This. It looked like the offense took their foot off the pedal after gaining a substantial lead. Saving it for Dallas or just no killer instinct, I guess everyone can have their own theory.

If it they are saving it, this whole season might be reminicent of the 49ers in 2011. Meaning that we'll only see enough of Alex to get wins...until the play-offs. I think this defense has demonstrated that they are good enough to try and imitate that team and season.

Um, no. Jets won because of their D and the ineptness of the Buccs offense. A snapped ball past the QB gave them a safety, and Geno single handedly gave the Buccs points on a fumble inside the 5 yard line. He also threw a horrible pick, and was lucky that the Buccs D decided to hit him (barely) going out of bounds, or its a Jets loss.

So no credit for going 35 yards in 25 seconds with no TO's? He still had 7 seconds left to get 10 yards and put them in FG position with out the penalty. Not bad for a rookie surrounded by a pyle of shit. I guess Russell Wislon shouldn't get any credit for that Seahawks win either. I'm be yearning for a QB that can pull a game like that out for a decade and people here piss it away

I also think Geno deserves come credit for drawing the penalty by putting pressure on the defense. Similar to a pass rusher drawing a holding penalty. When a 4.5 guy is hauling ass down the side line the defense is flying over to try to make sure he doesn't bust one like what happened with Matthews/Kaep.

Did you give credit to Tebow? I'll bet you didn't. This week's Geno hype is basically comparable to Tebow imo.

Some will argue that Geno was the man and some will argue he was incredibly lucky.

In the end, both will have lackluster careers and all of this typing will be a big waste of time. Actually, Geno will be lucky to ever make a playoff game like Tebow did.

This thread just needs to go away.

Tebow couldn't complete 50% of his passes. You're talking apples/oranges.

I'm pretty sure you need to go away for the 13th time and come back with a better user name Bobby.

In the end it doesn't matter.

People who have hated Geno from day one based on hype will continue to be haters and just can't wait to see him fail to say "I told you so."

People who wanted the Chiefs to draft and develop Geno in KC will still always wonder what it would be like to go with the best QB prospect in the draft (to some) and see how it panned out after Alex's tenure. I think the majority of Geno supporters on this forum are happy that Reid went after BRAY and didn't totally ignore the possibility of a rookie QB being developed on this team.

Despite what the haters say; Geno has the tools to get the job done. Will he make the excuse that his team is one of the worst in the league and use that as a crutch, or will he put them on his back and go make new superstars? He wanted the job and it is his. Time will tell.

It was a Tebow like scenario and that was my point. Some will argue that Geno was the man and some will argue he was incredibly lucky.

I really didn't like the guy coming out of WVU. I knew we wouldn't draft him and I was happy when we didn't. I don't feel the need to say "I told you so." I feel like I won when we didn't draft him and he dropped like a rock in the draft.

I think you are wrong about the last part though. There are several people here to truly believe we have to draft a QB to ever win a Superbowl. Bray will never be enough for them.

Ultimately, none of this is worth talking about. We have three quarterbacks the new regime likes, Geno is far from KC, and it realistically appears that we won't be drafting or signing a QB for a while. If we start winning consistently, the "draft a QB" dead horse beaters are going to look like idiots.

I guess it's time for me to move on from the Geno talk. It's a waste of time.

I don't understand why so many here have painted themselves so deeply into the Geno Smith corner. He might be ok after some experience, yes. But I thought the consensus here was that we wanted a QB like the Rodgers, Brees, Mannings, Brady? And it's pretty obvious to me that Geno will never be elite like those guys. So what's the ****ing point? What am I missing? Don't even come back at me with the "Geno COULD be as good as the elite QBs in this league" because that's weak sauce and borderline reeruned.

Geno leads his team to a miraculous 4th quarter win with less than a minute to play in his first and you won! If that's winning I want to be a loser.

You understand those guys all sucked or didn't play at the same point in development as Geno, right? But yet everyone knew they were all going to be HOF'er from day 1?
