In my most recent experience, the things I did at the beginning played a large role in the way she thought of me throughout the relationship. I was young and stupid. Live and learn I guess.

I had been using OKC for just over a year and I had maybe 10 replies to my starting message, 3 of which developed into longer conversations that seemed to trickle off. then just out of the blue one day I get a message from a girl. SHE SENT THE FIRST MESSAGE! I didn't even know this was possible!

We got to talking without wasting any time, the messages were coming in every day. After 3 days of messages I ask her out for coffee. She said she wanted to get to know me better first and she gave me her phone number, the first number I have acquired in my life (now 27 yrs old). Ding! achievement unlocked!

We texted back and forth rapidly for about one month, sometimes multiple times a day. She was exactly the kind of person I wanted to date: Kind, Honest, caring, very positive, no games, she even looked pretty good and she had a job and a car.

For someone like me who has limited interaction with people due to crippling shyness this was a major step forward. It was so nice having someone to talk to about every little thing. I feel that it really helped me develop my conversation skills. I felt an intense energy boost every day just thinking about her. I could think faster, my workouts were much more intense, it made me feel really confident too.

After a month of texting I decided to ask her out again but she decided to break it off. Maybe my timing was bad but I am still learning. She was really nice about it though and didn't leave me hanging.

I can't imagine what it will be like to have a real relationship with dating and possibly intimacy too. I now know that its a definite possibility on OKC even for shy guys like me. Don't give up hope guys. Send a thousand messages without replys, spend two hundred hours writing them. That one special lady is waiting just around the corner I just know it!
