Well, how would you break it down?

The history of starting QB's in the NFL is that you get a shot based off of where you were drafted. Period. Jamarcus Russel and any other first round QB get each and every chance to outstay their welcome. Most coaches and GM's don't have the balls to do what it takes to start an unknown guy, even if they felt that guy was the obvious choice. How many years have failed 1st round picks eaten up in the NFL? What about 2nd and 3rd rounders? Or worthless journeymen. Skelton or Kolb? Tebow maybe?

Get real. The stats are crazy skewed in the favor of 1st round QB's. Don't you think TJ Yates deserves a shot to lead a team, or are we happy with Jason Campbell?

Right now, I genuinely hope Cassel turns things around and ends up showing the problems were with Haley and not him.

If that's the case and he can play well, we can beat any team in the NFL.

I guess I just dont buy into the thought that Cassel is transformed after one preseason game.

Until he shows the ability to raise his level of play, I will continue with my opinion that Stanzi wins the backup job by the end of preseason and that Cassel doesn't make it out of the opening 6 game stretch as the teams starter.

I'd also like to add that the team was high on TJ Yates going into that draft and that we chose Stanzi over him.

Yates looks pretty good with the opportunities he has been given while Stanzi hasn't been given those chances.

His first chance will be Saturday.

I hope he makes the best out of it.

Ass****? Are you twelve yeard old?

What I'm saying is that Stanzi is a gambler. A high risk player that has shown over the history of his college career that mental breakdowns are very possible. In college, he was afforded two of the best WR's to ever play at Iowa, a TE now on the Chiefs roster, multiple NFL offensive lineman including two first round tackles, and an opportunistic defense that shadowed his mistakes. His senior year was a big improvement, but not enough so IMO to make up for the previous two years.

Wylie makes a sensational 1 handed grab on a pass from Stanzi and he is Tom Brady. He is inconsistent with his accuracy. He underthows then overthrows then drops one in. Rinse and repeat. We saw a classic case of it Friday. I want the kid to do good but I can't pretend what we see isn't really what we saw.
I asked if you would break down the throws. Can ya do that for me?

Fact is, the only bad balls he threw were 40yds downfield and one where Maneri failed to scrape the rusher at the line and Stanzi paid for it. Just had to get rid of it.

No. Vandenburg is an ass****. I ****ing hate him as the QB of Iowa. The guy cannot throw a consistent ball to save his life. There were times when he went downfield when I thought he was playing "how high can I throw the ball"! Cannot wait for the 2013 season.

While I will readily admint I was ready to see him over Palko last year, the fact is he is still a 5th round QB. I'd love to see the kid turn out to be the rare diamond in the rough, ala Tom Brady but the odds of that happening are about 3 out of 100. That's just the reality of it.
You are being overly optomistic.

Also why to the Stanzi 'Merica lovers get a free pass calling the "fade pass" a great throw? It was flat and late, to clarify if it would have been more back shoulder the flat and late part would have been ok.

Give me a quarterback that's smart and has a killer instinct over a guy that always plays it safe and never takes chances.

Cassel is at an impass in his career where he needs to start taking some chances because every defense knows how to beat the guy that has lined up under center for us the last 3 years.

Not only that, he needs to do it right out of the gates because we have a tough opening stretch before the bye week.

We need him to play well to have a chance at being 500 or better at the break.

Oh ok? I was talking about Stanzi and could care less about Vandenb(E)rg. I fully accepted Stanzi as the starter....I just never cared for him and his mental errors over his career.

Completely agree. However, I don't want Jake Plummer as the QB. I've seen how that ends.

Who called that pass a "great throw?"

The best I've read was that "that throw wasn't as bad as some said it was"

Won a lot of games. Plenty of offense with this arm. Made mistakes, but usually made up for them too.

Never took them to a place Iowa should have went with the talent around him. His arm is nothing special on the NFL level and unless his 2 cent head becomes a dime, he will never be a starter in the NFL.

The Stanzi/Iowa fans act like it was an easy catch that should've been a TD.

That was hardly the case. Cassel's throw to Baldwin was way better than the fade pass.

Cassel sucks
