DVD sales will be astronomical.

It also puts a ton of pressure on Rian Johnson for Epi VIII and probably a little more than necessary on Gareth Edwards and Rogue One, although from what I've heard about the script and film, it's going to be extremely badass.

I'm just excited if not more excited for Rogue One as I am for Episode VIII...

It's asking a question myself and a ton of other SW fans have always wondered about.

So cool.

I LOVE Star Wars, but after watching VII last night, all I can say is "meh".

Maybe it's impossible to live up to childhood perception. I don't know.

The part that broke my "This is reeruned" meter is when the head storm trooper readily lowered the shield at the end without a fight.

Seriously?

Yeah, that was entirely too easy. On a base literally the size of a planet, they know right where Phasma was going to be, and then she agrees to do it under about 40 seconds of being leaned on? Shiiiiiitt.

Although I will admit I enjoyed seeing Chewie knock her the **** out, lol.

Destroying a fourth death star was the only part of the movie I throughly disliked. C'mon, man. Have Kylo retrieve the plans and make it a quest to save Luke before the Empire rains hellfire on him. That whole plot felt shoehorned in from the beginning.

"A whole planet was just destroyed? Sucks."

"Oh. It's not the Death Star, it's like TEN TIMES BIGGER."

Brilliant, JJ. Brilliant.

Overall I still liked it. It was better than the prequels and I'm excited to see what Rian can do with these characters. People are freaking out that the next movie is showing signs at getting political, but I trust politics under Rian's vision much more than I trust it under Lucas'.

Sure, TFA was extremely derivative of the original movie. I can forgive that as a Star Wars fan who loathed the second trilogy. TFA has allowed me to pretend that the shitty parts of the prequels didn't happen. This one definitely had the feel of the originals. So, even though the thing was dripping with nostalgic cheese, I had a good time. At least I am looking forward to the next one and I'm getting back into the franchise again. I do think some of the new characters are great. Rey is really well done for instance. Old Bitter Luke looks promising. Even Darth Emo is compelling.

I was a party today and heard a great quip about TFA:

"Everything that was great about TFA wasn't original and everything that bad about TFA was original."

IMO, that sums it up perfectly.

Oh, I'm sure that people would disagree but there wasn't anything truly original about the film.

The Starkiller was pretty dopey (even though they took the name from a early Lucas draft).

Phasma was completely underused and dopey.

Snoke? Unless he's the Grand Inquisitor and his story is unlike Palpatine, he's derivative, as is Hux, Ren, Rey, etc.

Kanjiklub and the typical Abrams monsters were dumb and unimportant to the narrative.

I can't think of one original idea in TFA that was "Wow!".

What kind of pisses me off about the Blu Ray release is that apparently, there are different versions, which IMO, is bullshit.

Which version should people buy? Target? Best Buy? Amazon?

It's ridiculous.

All of them.

Isn't that the point? Selling. It also inflates the numbers...

Probably the Target version. It has an extra 20 minutes of special features. The Wal-Mart one is just different packaging, and the Best Buy one is a Steelbook with Kylo Ren on it. The Disney Store also has one with a special lithograph picture thing.
